It's that time again, I need 2 new tyres for my vauxhall vectra c 1.8 ls. Currently have avon zv3's on the rear these are still ok, it's the falken ze912's on the front which need replacing. Not sure what to go for, avons are ok but nothing special the 912's alittle better. Size is 215/55/16 H 93 or 97. Are kumho ue31's any good can get these from camskill for £65.00 each, or can anyone suggest anything else. Looking at midrange prices to be honest no more than £85.00 per wheel really. Had zz3 avons once they were good, car came with bridgestone er30's originally but didn't like them, too pricey now.

Out of what seems to be your available options I'd probably take the hankook evos - I never found 912's anything more than an average tyre but the hankook evo are good for the money, trade blows with proxes (which are also in budget). The FK452 are better than the fk912 at that kind of price too

Can only find evo s1 k107's in my size 215/55/16. v12's only 205/55/16. Are the k107's any good, camskill have them for £85.00

Can't argue with the S1 Evo comment, just came second in the EVO tyre test (see other thread).

Also worth considering the Avon ZV5 if the 3 on the back is suiting your car. I had a set on an S2000 and was fairly suprised by how decent they were. Wore pretty quick though.

Next question, can you mix tyre ratings as avons on rear are 97H and the hankooks are 93V. I know you can mix speeds if higher and must be on rear axle for higher rating but what about loads as avons are reinforced.

Providing the tyres at least match the load rating as specified by the cars handbook you're ok.

As for handling, it's not ideal, but no real difference to running different brands front to rear.

Ok manual says 93H, so 97H on front axle and 93V on rear axle. These would also be the new tyres. Don't really want to buy 4, need some cash left for 7950 gpu.

Can of worms.

Tyre manufacturers say back, so if you aquaplane / run out of grip it's the easier to recover front end that goes.

I find oversteer easier to handle than understeer, so tend to put my best tyres on the front.
