So this 29 year old guy, got "apprehended" for something or another, then was beaten to death by five cops in Memphis TN. He died in hospital 3 days later.

From what I can tell, one of the cops kicks this guy in the head so hard he injures his foot, in another view you can see a different cop literally thrashing him with his nightstick, then a different cop punching him in the head whilst he stumbles around, this is after he's been pepper sprayed.

Tyre Nichols: Bodycam footage shows father-of-one calling for his mother as he is beaten by officers before his death

Protests are taking place in at least nine cities across the US after the bodycam footage was released. Mr Nichols' mother has pleaded for peace saying "tearing up the streets" is "not what my son stood for".

Memphis police released all of the bodycam videos, in one of them Tyre can be heard screaming for his mum, it's terrible stuff. They also released CCTV video from a camera down the street, where you can get a better sense of scale in regard to the beating they give him.. It looks like a bunch of hyenas surrounding an injured animal.

Everyone involved is black (I think) so my IQ isn't high enough to determine whether or not this is race related in 2023.... But my god - these aren't police officers, they're just a violent mob wearing a uniform with all the gear to go with it!

All five officers have been charged with second degree murder and a bunch of other charges (kidnapping, misconduct etc), apparently they're all going to plead "not guilty"

US policing is far, far too aggressive. Police officers are supposed to be one of the core pillars of the community, people you can trust, people who are there to help - but these US cops are just terrifying.
 
Horrible stuff, at least it's there in full view so they can't wiggle out of it. Animals.

I haven't watched the video, not sure I could/would tbh - the description is enough, sickeningly horrific.

Yeah I know, it’s bizarre - they’ve all been fired and charged with murder.

They all wear those bodycams, they all know they’re recording.

I mean, this isn’t just a case of “going over the top” with unreasonable force, against someone committing a crime who is resisting, it’s full on brutality against an innocent man..

It’s baffling.

Five former Memphis Police Department officers who were fired following the arrest of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man who died days after a forceful traffic stop, have been charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Shelby County jail.

The latest: Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy said officials will release footage of Nichols' arrest Friday after 7 p.m. ET.

  • Mulroy said former officers Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills, Jr. and Justin Smith, who are also Black men, were each also charged with aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression.
  • Mulroy said his office met with the Nichols' family before the charges were filed. He said the investigation into and prosecutorial decision against the five officers were expedited "because of the extraordinary nature of the case."
  • "The actions of all of them resulted in the death of Tyre Nichols and they are all responsible," the district attorney said.

I'm sure it'll be a confusing a lot of 'activists' as well.

You can tell by the language they use at the start they are on a powertrip and it looks like they just wanted to give someone a beating. Proper mindless violence stuff, more what you expect from a gang than the police.
 
I'm sure it'll come to light that he was dipping one of the officer's wives, a revenge attack of some sort. No sane person (or group) does that without reason.

Civil war just got an inch closer.
 
They seemed so proud of themselves at the end, a feather in the cap whilst the man was practically dying infront of their eyes.

Just the tip of the iceberg, vast majority of police brutality gets brushed under the rug, if not for video footage so would have this. In fact I reckon just the body cam footage would not have sufficed and they probably would have got away with it. The aerial footage is the most incriminating, which was just by chance.
 
The videos are disgusting, their demeanour afterwards is what hit home. They’ve clearly done this before just without the same end result.
 
For me it feels like the quality and calibre of the people being hired as police officers, is so low they’re getting the lowest of the low, just total dregs.

It feels like American cops just go off at the drop of a hat, from 0-9000 in an instant.

It’s a totally broken country, I don’t see any pathway to it getting fixed, anytime soon..

They look scary you can see in their eyes. If you’ve ever heard Mobb Deep Eye for an Eye it’s made for people like them.
