My mother in law was complaining about a bad vibration coming up through the steering wheel, so I took a look...

So apart from the huge crack going round most of the tyre, the wire being visible, the tyre a U shape, they were pumped up to 55psi.

When I first looked at the profile I thought someone had put an odd desert tyre on. But when I checked the tyres I found both rears were the same make and size and where one was normal tyre shape but also over inflated too.

The tyres over there take a lot of abuse, the high temperatures and road condition really take the life out of the tyres. I am not sure why the garage had pumped them up so high.

plus, dont forget with the uber heat there, the pressures would have been higher when in use

When I took it round to be checked, it was after being used on a hot day so I don't think it would have got much higher.

The MIL never inflated them, it would have been the garage she took it to in March when she got 2 new fronts.

There are suggestions that they will put a limit on the life of a tyre as this wasn't the only example of tyres I saw like this in the Gulf.

I've seen worse.. I had a girl come over to buy some like new tyres off me for her very old and tatty M3.

Anyway, her existing tyres were worn down to the steel braid. I actually cut myself on the metal as i ran my hand on the inside.. She was OMG i didn't realise. I told her you need to be VERY CAREFUL when you drive home. She called me the next day and told me she'd arrived safely. I'd given her one or two more rides before a blowout.
