Looking online to finally get around to getting some new rubber.

Now i can get a set of 4 Conti Sport Contact 5 (215/45/17) fitted, new valve, balanced and wheels aligned for £508.

Does this sound reasonable? or can you find me a set cheaper?

And your opinions on The Conti sport contact 5 tyres?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Didn't notice the alignment. If thats proper 4 wheel laser alignment with full adjustment it sounds good.

If its a quick check of the tracking then it sounds crap.

Yeah pretty sure, i cant seem to find it any cheaper buying the tyres online, delivered to my home, then getting them fitted/balanced and the alignment done separately.

Thanks

Where is that from?

I am pretty sure CS5 is not available as a 17" tyre. If thats ATS they like to list tyres that do not exist.

The national alignment deal only includes front toe adjustment I think, making it less of a good deal as it first seems.

The CS5 is an excellent tyre - provided its available. I still think the price is expensive.

Tyre-shopper.co.uk will do 4 CS5's and the same allignment offer for £489. They are the same company - its just a cheaper online 'front'. So basically exactly the same offer you have found, only for less money. You can also get 5% back through Quidco.

Got a call from national auto place today saying they dont have any sport contact 5's left and not sure when they will be in stock again.

They offered me 4 x Goodyear : 215/45 Y 17 : Goodyear Eagle F1 ASY 2
for the same price, they will pay the £3 difference :o

These tyres any good?

i said i would call them back later to confirm.

Thanks

Did you completely ignore my post or what? Why would continue to order thruogh National when I showed you how to buy the same service from the same place for less money?

The tyres they have offered you are absolutely excellent - but again the price is far OTT.

Use the link I showed you - 4 Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 fitted to your car with the Alignment offer you want will cost £471 instead.

Thats a saving of almost £40. Yet you will still have the same tyres fitted by the same people you were using anyway.

I've used tyre-shopper, their prices include delivery and fitting and as Fox has mentioned the tyres get delivered to your selected National tyre centre, you then turn up on your selected day (am or pm) and get them fitted.

I had 2 F1 asym 2 tyres fitted to my Accord last week, all in all quite easy, hassle free and pain less.

So if you can save £47 for little or no effort why not, £47 will buy at least a few rounds on a Friday evening :)

I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall. All my posts recommending you use tyre shopper have clearly stated the price I have quoted INCLUDES the alignment.

So does the price I have just quoted you.

As I said, tyre-shopper also do the £29 wheel allignment offer (They are the same company after all). Without this the price is just £442. The £471 is with the wheel alignment included.

It's the SAME company offering the SAME tyre fitted by the SAME member of staff at the SAME branch. It's just cheaper.

Am I wasting my breath? :(

Edit: Tyre guarantee? Absolute waste of money but if you want that, tyre-shopper offer that as well. They offer everything National do... BECAUSE THEY ARE NATIONAL :p

Well it is free, so not really a waste of money eh?

:D

I dont mean to hijack but as the OP seems to be sorted I've been looking on tyre-shopper for tryes for a Fiesta ST (205/40/17) and I'm thinking between the following:

TOYO PROXES T1-R £341.20
UNIROYAL RAINSPORT 2 £456.40
AVON ZZ3 £326.80
CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 5 XL £506.80
GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 GS-D3 XL £478.00

Can anyone recommend which are the best for the car, and which are best value for money? I don't want to get something too good if the car wont reap the benefit.

Thanks
