*Tyres* Falken FK 452s any good?

How did you let them get that bad before replacing them paradigm? Do you neglect your car and just didnt notice? You must have been absolutely caning that to get 5k out of a set of fronts and by the wear pattern, although I'm sure you'll swear blind it was correct, your alignment was seriously screwed as well.

Got 15k out of a set on the rear of mine putting down similar amounts of power to the road..

The alignment is correct, its been checked now by 4 different places, all confirming its correct.

As to how they got that low, one week they were just about legal, next week they were like that.

So you went from 2ishmm of tread to minus whatever mm of tread in a week?

Does your car run silly-toe in as standard then? I can't see how a tyre can wear like otherwise.

The alignments fine there, its just enthusiastic driving, mean wear pretty similarly, except i get mine changed way before they get to that stage:p

I would have said the outside edges would be more worn if you were going to ragging it round corners. I cant believe people get less than 5k miles out of a set of F1s, you must drive like a complete savages :D. I got around 10k miles from my set although the rears were more worn for obvious reasons.

I realise Eagle F1s are the best, but in all fairness I don't need the BEST for the road because I never push it too far. I need great tyres, not excellent ones. :)

You dont buy good tyres for 'pushing it too far' you buy good tyres to ensure you've got the best possible grip when you need it most, which might be in some completely normal day to day situation.

As I have mentioned before, a mate at work got similar from Eagle F1s on his Cupra R.

Must be the latter, even my Rover turbo was better on tyres than the Cupra Rs seem to be

Just picked two up today to go on the rear of my MR2 Turbo. 225/45/16. First time i will have falkens on but the were recommended by the bods over on IMOC.

I have had falkens on my last 2 cars. I had them all round on my old Fiat coupe 20v turbo and they worked very well. now have them on my 260 t5 and whilst they give a harder ride than the old rubbish pirreli's I had on they grip fine and wear well. Before the Falken 452 on the fiat I had proxies (can't remember which ones but it was a lot more expensive) and it gave no where near as much value for money. I killed my proxies on a track day and the falkens did a couple and about 5000 miles by the time I sold it and they still looked good.

I went for 4 of them in 225/40/18 in the end as Micheldever said I need 3 x tyres so I just went for the lot

i wanted Ps2s but they are now mega money

Yeah mine have been pretty good, wouldn't go as far to say better than PS2s

I've had a knocking noise since they were put on, but the car is in for a service tomorrow, so fingers crossed. I've seen a few VAG based motors like mine recently needing the ARB replaced :(
