Uber cheap spec me thread

I am in need of a super cheap pc for simple web browsing, some word e.t.c very basic, little or no gaming, no overclocking and needs to be dual core.

Budget is cheap as possible and only base unit needed inc. OS.

I have knocked up the below, would this be the cheapest?

No obvious ways to make it much cheaper unless you can pick up some parts secondhand. This is one of the cases where sometimes it can make sense to buy a pre-built since the margins on them are so small at this end of the market. :)
 
That's very cheap as is.
Do you really need dual core, you can pick up some very cheap laptops for around that price?
 
well it's actually for my Nan lol

She's got a nice TFT monitor with a VGA connection so I could hook the base unit upto that, although I did read a thread on here about a cheap laptop thats due out soon for around 199usd iirc, defo anuva option didnt even think about laptop ha.

Also where would be the best place for second hand, Off the bay?
 
That place isn't great, you get some useful items but a lot of it is over priced and abused. I often see parts sell for more than they cost new or only a few £ less than much better parts.

If your going to be supporting the PC for you Nan, better to make sure it's built with reliable bits else you'll be back to it every week.
