Hi,
is anyone on here a uber driver or similar? would like to know what there experience is whether full time or part time

thank you

ha ha, I was hoping someone from our loyal ocuk forum may want to share some information :)

Not Uber specifically but i know there are a few cab drivers around who may have some info, although from actual taxi drivers the opinions may be skewed :p

@233

what do you want to know?

i run a medium sized cab firm up in Glasgow with at least 75% of my drivers working with us and uber or previously uber.
and in the great tradition of szun tsu have even managed a few hundred jobs myself on the uber platform over the last 4 years

workwise its easy, too easy follow the uber navigation swipe, pickup follow the navigation and swipe again, thats it, literally all there is to being an uber driver,

of course you have all the complex interpesonal relationships with various passengers but the core of the job is pee easy, the job itself it really depends on what your looking for, extra bit of money great stuff, jump on at peak times make your money and run, full time career, look elsewhere

any questions you want to ask just tag away

Reckon it's worth it if you have a couple hours free a day?

Currently in between jobs and loving being at home with the kids but just wondering if a couple hours an evening whilst they're sleep is worth the income? I miss driving already haha

Not exactly easy access requirements regards vehicles etc

Where are you based?

As you'll need a licences vehicle and a personal private hire licence for a start

Birmingham, near the airport.

Dont Uber provide all the licensing?

Oooh then I'll have a PhD(L) finally :D

I was just going to use my own, estate so perfect for airport journeys etc.

This seems like a lot more effort than I initially assumed, was just thinking I'd register and they'd send me everything in the post and away I go hahaha

I know someone that makes a dam packet from doing facebook lifts on a Friday & Saturday night
I don't know if people do this in England or if this would even work in england

Over here we no have Uber and the taxis are useless on a Saturday night as you have to wait for about 2 hours to get one.
IE pub closes at 2am and you have to wait till about 4am in the pouring rain for a taxi as there nowhere near enough taxis to cover the amount of people that want one :(

You could do it in England, it would be illegal though.

In the USA, you can make some cash being an Uber on your way home from work. Over here, unfortunately, you need something called a licence!
