Ubisoft Free Weekend / E3 Sale

Tried the free limited Steep offer today. Can't seem to get on with it. Get the feeling if I put some effort it in might be good, but just can't be bothered.

I actually bought Wildlands yesterday, and I'm finding that quite good so far. Got a feeling I'll tire of it fairly quick though perhaps.

On a side note - SLI is working very well in both games! Steep seems to have v good scaling and smooth stutter free performance. I'm aware Wildlands had SLI issues on release but using Nvidia drivers from a few months ago and the game must have been fixed. Getting decent performance at almost max settings, 3440 x 1440, 2x 980Ti SLI. Get on average between 60-85fps and scaling of about 80% average on both cards.

Top tip for stutter free SLI performance in Wildlands after lots of testing - MAKE SURE "ENABLE IN GAME OVERLAY FOR SUPPORTED GAMES" IS TURNED OFF IN THE UPLAY 'GENERAL' SETTINGS - Makes a huge difference to microstutter that is very prevalent when this is left turned on!

Also, make sure you run 'fullscreen' - an absolute must anyway for the best and smoothest performance if you have SLI and Gsync monitor (x34 here)

That seems to be a bit of a bug with regards to the objects/textures not rendering quick enough, I never had it when the game first released but one of the patches seemed to introduce the issue, seems to be random for me too, never had invisible enemies though.

Not sure on your rig but dx 12 provides a massive boost too, I run everything max @ 2560x1080 except the shadows, reflections and no AA (I find the game doesn't need any) and the sliders for distance and detail are about 70/80% and the game doesn't drop below 50 fps 95% of the time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd6TjrpBBo0 demonix, pretty good results from dx12 over dx11
The OS is windows 8.1 so dx12 isn't an option, and the processor is a celeron G1820 which is well below the minimum requirements (I'm surprised that it can get a near steady 60fps at 1080 low, but that's probably the GTX 1050Ti taking most of the strain) as is probably the cause of some of the issues I've been having like the occasional invisible enemies which I've mostly gotten around by pulling back to a safe distance until the enemies have rendered.

I've also got to find a way to get 10U before the sale ends as I'm that much short of getting the extra 20% discount and I don't have many other games that can get U points.
