Ubisoft using Havok FX physics engine in Rainbow Six: Siege

They probably used it because it may be faster than physx on the AMD based consoles. If it achieves the same effects then it's a good move since Havok will work on any platform.

A great example of Havoc. I'm surprised more dev's aren't using it. Looks amazing in World of Tanks.

What a good news then. It is not restricted to one GPU manufacturer and that's "the way it's meant to be done". We pay the same price for the game so why shouldn't we get the same treatment from game devs.

Great news, means we won't have a performance killer especially for a certain brand of gpus..... It will be interesting to see how the performance of this is, every single ubisoft "gameworks" title runs like **** for me, micro stutter galore...

The first game I played, which had havok was the force unleashed, back then, the effects were amazingly good, in fact, the physics, graphics etc. are still pretty damn good even for today!

It will be interesting to see how threaded the workload will be.

I'd be more worried about performance elsewhere in a Ubisoft title, PhysX is the least of your worries and at least it can be turned off.

Played the alpha and while it ran very good.. It left me not wanting to play it again.. To much codish
Now I believe they have listened to all feedback and going to fix maybe most my hated things I'll try and now see what the beta is like before making my final choice on buying.
