Ubisoft Wants to "Improve" Its Relationship With PC Community.

**** ubisoft, their drm is a joke and some of their past comments saying that virtually all PC Gamers do nothing but pirate games are just as laughable.

lol what a joke. Its like Jeremy Kyle with a battered wife and the husband saying 'give us a chance darling, i have changed'.

Their DRM was the most annoying thing in the last decade of PC gaming for me. Now they want my trust back... well give me some free games and i'll think about it

They just need to start concentrating on making great games rather than crippling them with DRM and just ditch DRM entirely

It's pretty well established that DRM doesn't stop piracy anyway, so it's just a waste of resources and ****es off legitimate consumers.

If they did this then they wouldn't have to try to improve their relationship with PC gamers, it would happen naturally.

The best place they could start would be by reading this thread on taking it on board. The people on this thread ARE their most passionate customers, people with hundreds and often thousands of posts about gaming, are well worth listening to.

Have to say Ubisoft make some fantastic games and luckily enough I've never had a problem with their draconian DRM.

Regarding their hub 'Uplay' in which you gain points the more games you play is actually quite decent as they give you extra levels/equipment etc etc.

put down the pitch forks people, at least they (dare I say) seem to be trying

Funny this comes around as it seems more likely that PS4/New consoles and x86 hardware will usher in a more smooth crossover between PC and Console titles.

Ubisoft can suck it, too little, too late.

Very true actually... if it weren't for the fact they where releasing Watchdogs i'd boycott...

Ditch the uplay rubbish and stick their games on Steam with Steamworks will go a long way to help repair their reputation with PC gamers..

ACIII was a bit of a mess to get up and running, i got a CD Key and it finally worked after i jumped through hoops, Far Cry 3 worked afterwards as well, yet I have AC2 on Steam and it launches through Steam, then fires up uplay and I get two overlays..

joke.. two levels of DRM, great..!! worse yet, i've got Settlers 7, ACIII and Far Cry 3 on uplay games ready to launch, yet AC2 is on Steam and doesn't even show in uplay games list..

Too many game clients, too many levels of DRM, so ditch uplay - use Steamworks..

It is a joke.

All of these publishers are seeing Digital Distribution as cash cows, not what Digital Distribution is actually supposed to be used for.

Basically it's "Lets release our AAA titles on our 'Digital Distribution' platform exclusively and force people to use it".

The distribution platform is now no longer a separate entity to the title, they are ONE AND THE SAME and effectively baked into the title itself.

I'm just chuckling over the idea that Ubisoft might think they have an issue with how PC gamers see them...

I can't for the life of me imagine why...

I had to use Uplay the other day (to get a free copy of a game), and whilst the client seemed reasonable, the idea that you basically have to pay to download the game again in the future did not appeal to me...(especially as I couldn't see any easy way to back up the files in it's help menu despite it recommending I do so, I ended up copying the entire install directory).

Ditching uplay would be a start. I launched uplay to play far cry 3. Save a bit of time launching through steam then uplay.
But no. If uplay wasnt opened by steam, it would say there are no games on my account. What a waste of hard drive space that program is.
As said they have a mountain to climb.

They have a mountain to climb

Indeed.

This is a start perhaps although seems just like a PR exercise to promote their Uplay store now selling games from other publishers we do not like?

Where is Activisions and EA's admission?

Oh wait, their **** does not smell so why would they bother.

all will be forgiven ubisoft :

1) ditch uplay
2) ditch the drm
3) make less rubbish games like hawx / last graw and last splinter cell, and spend the time making the good games better (like ac3 / fc3)
4) no more 6 month delays between console and pc releases
5) abandon free to play ideas and stick to real games
