I'm looking at upgrading to 4GB RAM and downloading the 64Bit version of Hardy Heron when it's released in a few days. Was just wondering if there are any Vista style compatibility issues with it. Cheers.

The problem is not the included software, it all works fine. It is the proprietary 3rd party plugins. There isn't an official JRE or Flash plugin for 64-bit Firefox. Ubuntu automagically installs a wrapper that lets you use the 32-bit plugin which works pretty well, though it tends to use more CPU than it would normally.

Do you think Adobe will get round to releasing a 64bit flash plugin anytime soon? Seems a bit of a joke that something that widely used isn't keeping with the times

4GB Ram is fast becoming normal, maybe less on linux than windows, but all the same. In a year or so, probably around when Windows 7 arrives the world will slowly start to stop supporting 32bit and people will be on the forums complaining because they stuck on Athlon and Pentiums without 64bit support.

For me it can't come quick enough, I already use the 64bit version of Ubuntu, I have 6GB Ram so I don't need a swap partition on the disk. Personally I think its faster, but maybe I just want to believe that to justify my RAM.

Adobe won't release one from what I have heard. There is an open source effort going on called Gnash though, which works ok for some things but still isn't complete. I think it's possible to get it to work with FF3 anyway.
