I'm downloading it now so I guess its out.

Post your feedback in here about 8.04.

I think I'll be trying the Wubi thing initially. I've already got Linux Mint on a VM within Vista but I want a fully accelerated Linux when i need it.

Not for me, just yet. Their web page hasn't changed yet. What mirror did you use?

Been sitting on my server for a while now, no problems.
A tip- Updates mirror wise, I've found gb.archive.ubuntu.com to be nastily slow at times. My reccomendation is se.archive.ubuntu.com (Swedish), from which I can consistantly hit 20megs :)

Cheers

Ah, grabbing this via bittorrent is a welcome excuse to get my QoS policy working :)

Did someone say that 64-bit works on Core 2 Duos? In which case, I have no idea why I installed the 32-bit version on my T61 :(

Re-install time....

Was waiting for this, this'll be my first Linux ever (except for beginner usage whilst at uni) - hope to make the most out of it eventually (except for gaming) so.. wooopdedoooodadeyyyyyyyy

Nothing in update manager yet though.

Will do a manual check again.

Yaaaaaaay!!

Tiz In.

Now to screw up my system !!

You probably haven't got three daughters each with their own computers nicking all the bandwidth though !!

Just installed 8.04 Amd64 Desktop Edition from 7.04 Amd64 Desktop Edition, fresh install with old /home partition.

Went pretty smooth, although grub threw up an error after the install. 'Error 22 - no partition found' or something for both full kernal and recovery mode. XP was still listed but threw up a NTLDR missing.

So rebooted to the live cd, unable to find any info on ubuntu forums about this specific error.
Luckily I had backed up my previous install's menu.lst. A quick browse of both old and new to see whats different, a little sudo edit of the new menu.lst on the new 8.04 root partition, and hey presto, grub works as before, my dual boot is back in working order :D

Lost some of the programs I had installed, but its kept my theme, wallpaper, and evolution emails all intact.

A few hours ahead tweaking methinks :D

will give this a go :)

hopefully a new linux mint will come out soon too :) really polished

-edit, torrent coming down at around 1mb/s, nice
