Ubuntu and Codecs/Java/Flash

The main thing stopping me using Ubuntu before was getting Codecs and other stuff working easily.

I now have found some straight forward advice for it and thought I'd share:-

EDIT - Thought it was going to be easy but its still a bind installing something to get divx to play...

It's super easy to get the codecs installed. If you go to the packages section of Medibuntu, just select your distro and the libdvd2css package or whatever, d/l and install

As for DivX, would RealPlayer play those files? If so, that's an easy install too.

all the codecs get installed when you try to play a file automatically.

No Idea, its an alpha/beta release so I haven't touched it.

what mad hatter said should work for you. It's the Gstreamer packages u need.
