ubuntu HDD problem

anyone else have a problem with the drive parking and unparking a lot?? i know there is an ugly fix... but i am a bit cautious to try it. as there seems to be a lot of warnings and use this at your own risk etc.. has anyone else had this problem and applied the fix? if so has it worked for you?

Is this the laptop thing? If so, I don't own a laptop so it hasn't affected me (although I am considering getting an EeePC so I guess I should follow this thread after all)

well, not really, as eeepc isn't hard drive based. its flash, so it wont have that problem. nevermind. ill just find an alternative.

indeed. ive done the googling and ubuntu forum searching bit already

i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and does the fix work/work well?
