Ubuntu/mining/wallets

After getting hacked the other day on my windows p.c for my Bitcoin, and many more, I was told to go liunx for all my wallets and dat files....

I have installed, Ubuntu, and downloaded TureCRYPT, but i have no idea how to install it(Ubuntu noob)

All i would like to do, is have that and my wallets on the laptop.

any help would be great, as I have no idea what i am doing.

As for TrueCrypt on Ubuntu. Installation doesn't work on Linux like it does on Windows. This link should provide you some information on how software installation and package management on Linux works.

I personally have never used TrueCrypt because ironically, I don't trust it.

During the installation of ubuntu you can chose to encrypt the home folder, you should be pretty set with this?

+1 on this. It's what I do with my Debian installs (on which Ubuntu is based) and one of the reasons I don't use TrueCrypt (as well as it not being completely audited yet).

Linux can be just as vulnerable. You should look at where you went wrong.

What if you installed Ubunta and didnt encrypt the home folder, can it be done after?

spent all day going over it, And notice many things were I went wrong. only have myself to blame...

however, am making sure it don't happen agan.

You can, but it's a real pain in the ass.

question, on windows I have now got malwarebytes and other AV software...

Does Ubuntu have something like that? can you use Malwarebytes on on linux Machine#?

Have a read of that. If people ask me to put AV software on their machines, I usually use ClamAV (well, ClamTK which is a GUI front end as ClamAV is terminal based).
