Ubuntu noob - is there an iTunes clone ?

Hi there,

Just fired Ubuntu onto the gf's netbook as the HDD died and they wanted £££ for backup DVD of Win 7 farter edition.

Alls well but she then asked how she can conect up her iPhone to it to transfer music and I was at a loss :S

Is it possible or am I on to plums ?

Both Banshee and Rhythmbox have excellent support for ipods. You'll be fine.

Failing that, GTKPod is yet another option, though I personally use Rhythmbox and have never had a problem, you can even transfer from Ipod BACK to PC.

Thanks for that - hoping it all works out fine for her. She needs Skype, VLC and being able to use her Vodafone 3G dongle on it and shes happy.

Both Skype and VLC are in the software center. My Huweai three broadband dongle is picked up and works out of the box without any additional drivers.

Hi there sorry to bug you, she tried connecting her Voda dongle and cant seem to get it to work. Its the K3520-Z version (contract).

Is there anything special thats need done or should it work off the bat?

does rhythmbox support the iphone? i have connected mine and it wont find the music.

nope, donesn't work with ipod touch\iphone, unless jailbroken I believe.
