Ubuntu server install problems.

Ok, i've got the image downloaded and burnt to a bootable dvd.
It loads up and i have the option to install server, once i click this option i end up on a black screen and it wont go any further.
I've tried the alternative installer (text based) and i get a flashing white cursor at the same point as the black screen before.

any ideas?

try a minimal system and then add hardware afterwards? More info would be nice...

What speed did you burn the ISO at? Sounds silly, but it effects the install. Try reburning it at a slow speed.

I gave up and installed xp in the end.

Only card in the system was a geforce mx440. Both dvd's i tried were burnt and checked, both showed up fine. I also tried one in my laptop to make sure it wasnt the dvd, worked fine.

The motherboard is on the intel 865 chipset tho, so i'm thinking its down to that.

Edit. Correction, its now installing, turned out it was legacy usb support causing the hang.

Yup, I can see that...I was gonna say disable EVERYTHING you think you can get away with...
