how do you shut it down?

7.10 server ed.
quit get you back to the login prompt... but what shuts it down

all comandline

sudo shutdown -P now

I used this and it worked - let me know if it's wrong

init 0 to shutdown

init 6 to restart


at least that's what someone somewhere else suggests

sudo init 0

or

sudo shutdown -P now


should do the same anyway

I've still not entirely worked out what I'm doing with my VMs

I use sudo halt -p

Just plain sudo halt will do the trick. Sudo reboot does what it says on the tin as well.
