UCAS application - personal statement

Thanks, I'll get on it soon then! Another question, I used UCAS last year (alhough already accepted via clearing) and paid the fee, will I need to pay it again to apply for a different uni starting in September? I have a student number still, will have to try and get back to the page where I can edit my details, or mabye I can't and I just use the number to apply now?

you could be right. i'll be honest my college's handling of this has been nothing short of a joke. it got rushed through on friday and that was only cos a fellow course member asked the question but i do think it is the end of november for applications unless you want to go through clearing!
i'm applying for wolverhampton and if i miss this window because of my colleges incompetence, i wont be happy!

ive never actualy done a UCAS application but why would your colleges be handling this be a joke? and how are they incompetent?

lmao at you needing to apply before end of this month or you get stuck with clearing

stop listening to rumours from pessimists and bad information. pretty sure you can apply in june and still not need clearing... although admittedly you will be near the back of the que

obviously this is different if your applying to oxford/cambridge but then if you want to go there you should be able to work out how to apply yourself... not needing college to hold your hand through it

ive been to uni twice and never applied before march :o . my personal statements where awful too but i had way over the UCAS points needed so im guessing no one ever even read it

why should the college be doing it for you anyway though ? what do you think that people who never went to college do...

all the info needed on personal statements is on the ucas site or on other education sites

thats what i was getting at. its a PERSONAL statement for starters and its YOUR application.

like i said ive never done one myself but seems like your passing the blame a little.

i meant the application process as a whole, there's other parts to the process other than this, this is just the last part of it. i'd never used UCAS before, it's something i couldn't have done without college because they know the subject codes i had to enter for previous subjects taken. we had an hour to do the whole thing, there was 10 of us. 10 students using a system that they've never used before and one supervisor does not a pleasant experience make

If I was in charge of admissions and I thought you hadn't taken your statement very seriously, then I wouldn't take you very seriously either.

Put some effort into it.

Sensible posting as always. Take note.

It IS important frankly.

Oh come on, I did it in October with a group of 20-30 other people no problem. It isn't as difficult as you make out, and if you are struggling with the relatively simple application process, are you sure uni is for you?

My statement (for applying for engineering) said that I liked "LEGO" as a kid ... (yup, it was THAT bad).

Still got in as I had AAA for a course that wanted ABB I think :P

Went to an open day and spoke to the senior admissions guy, he said this in his words:

"We won't look at your personal statement unless you don't meet the required UCAS points for the course, if you don't, we'll look at it "

It helps having a good statement if you have bad / not good enough predictions for what you're applying for.

Also if you have a good English teacher at your school get them to have a look at it, they will help improve the language and make it flow better etc. My 2 cents, back to the ridiculous absenteism thread :D

yea you have paid, if it gets sent back you just have to click send and it will go straight back, don't need to pay again.

i completed my application and notificied that i have some typing mistakes like:

teacher=teracher language=languague unknown=uknown

i can t edit them because application is completed is there any way to edit it? if it is not do they cause problem ? or few typing mistakes do not mean anything as you know no one is perfect
