Despite being a graduate, I'm applying for a job that is asking for my UCAS points.

Now, I've found a UCAS points calculator online, but I'm unsure of how many I have because the AS/A2 system is confusing me.

If I took English at AS and A2, do I just take into consideration the A2 points?

E.g. If I get 100 points for grade B at A2 level, can I also add points for the AS level in the same subject?

Yep you've got it right, if you only did AS then you count the AS points, if you did A2 as well then you only count the A2 points.

Ok, guys, thanks.

One more question. I did a Physics AS level and messed around and only acheived a U. However, on my AQA statement of results, it gives me 18 UMS, whatever that means (Unit Mean Score, maybe?). Can these be translated into UCAS points?

Nah, U/N grades are worth 0 UCAS points

I love it when a graduate employer is more interested in what you did as a schoolboy years ago than how you performed at University :D

I don't, I think it is wrong. Although it is probably necessary. Everyone has a degree nowadays :(

where/what you applying for tweek? how are your A2 grades?
i'm taking maths, f. maths, physics, biology, chemistry @ AS atm

A2 Geography - B
A2 English Lang/Lit - B
AS Geology - E
AS Computing - E
AS Physics - U

I messed about a lot in sixth form as you can tell. However, I manged to get into Uni of Manc for English. Anyways, since I've just finished a masters degree, I really don't understand why they're asking for grades I acheived in school 7+ years ago.

I hope you realised he was being sarcy!

Its just to weed out the interviewing to be honest, I imagine that even people who didnt make the UCAS point tally will be taken seriously if they attained a decent classification in a relevant degree.

Everythings slightly different here in scotland, we have 'standard grades' and 'Highers', I remember doing ucas calculator, its a long time ago, but as far as I'm aware you ignore previous grades of the same subject at different levels.

With 300+ people applying for each grad position at some firms they have to whittle down the numbers some how and UCAS points is one of them.
