Am wanting to reply to the offers, but it says select reply, so I do, it has firm, insurance and decline.

What does Firm and Insurance mean?

Thanks.

firm is your first choice.

if you put a university down as your firm, then you meet the requirements of their offer when you get your grades, you have to go there (or nowhere)

insurance is your backup.

if you put a university down as your insurance, fi you miss the grades for your firm, but meet the requirements for your insurance, you can go there (or nowhere)

I'm pretty sure that the deadline for replying is long past though, unless you applied for medicine.

Ah right cheers.

Also I have another 2 choices, but I have to reply to them by 5th june, what happens after that date I find I cannot get into the first choice and I can into the second choice but I choose to not go to uni in the end? I dont want to decline them.

The deadline for replying is 5th june.

Firm = 1st choice and insurance is a fallback.

Aren't you meant to have done all your application process by now?

I am confused, on the choices page in UCAS there was a box saying:

"DON'T FORGET..

to reply to your offers. You must reply by Thu, 5 Jun 2008."

Either way I have submitted my replys today.

Hmm maybe I will, just I am having doubt about going to uni now, just want to look for a job around york area really, surely trying to find a job with only GCSE's and BTEC National Diploma ICT is not going to mean I cant get any job and only can get crap jobs and no able to work my way up surely?

At uni I would be doing a Foundation degree (level 5), Comp systems support. So am wanting to do IT related stuff really.

See my friend only has GCSE's and was off college for ages due to big illness, so he decided instead of re doing the course he would just go get a job, so I should be able to get something better from my college grades?

Just do the application process for uni anyway. Nothing is bound. If you put a firm choice down, they can't MAKE you go if you decide you would rather get a job. Also, if you have a change of heart and want to go to uni, I'm sure you would be a bit upset you never finished the application. Don't close any doors in life.

No I would not cancel the application, just it is so close I dont know what I want to do, I get the impression if I dont go to Uni I am going to be poor and living crap all my life.

Lol, i imagine the first 5-10 years would be a bit on and off the tracks, as i imagine your in the same situation as me, "if you don't go to uni...what the hell do you do?". If you decide not to go to uni, to get anywhere up the job ladder, you need to pick a career path and thrive and drive yourself to really enjoy it and impress your bosses.
