UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [15th - 17th March 2022]

Are any of our fans really that bothered? We'd have just been thumped in the next round.

It's all about a rebuild starting in the summer for me, hopefully anyway.

I agree that it would have had an element of travesty had we won that over the two legs however ultimately thats our level. Interestingly the subs made no impact. Pogba, Fernandes totally underwhelming despite their world level billing. Pogba just committed fouls, Bruno moaned and moaned. The captain an absolute shell of a player and the young talisman Rashford can't even make a 5 yard pass to a team mate never mind anything else. What a helluva rebuild required at Old Trafford.

lol..Scholes. Conning the ref is a masterclass apparently

Its not conning at this point. It hasn't been for ever really. The refs know what they are blowing for and do it happily. They simply see the cheating and playacting as a facet of the game in europe. Same in the PL to a lesser extent.

Not sure why Scholes is getting hung up on Rangnick, the players are just a bad mix. I don't think any manager could get a tune out of them for long.

Seems like a rebuild for the last 5 summers.

Yep. One day they might get it right. Woodward has gone now at least.

So much deadwood, and Maguire as Captain is rapidly becoming a joke.

Club won't win anything with leading the team. Calamity.

.
I think they could, but it takes things like dropping some or possibly even all of Maguire, Pogba, Bruno, Rashford and Ronaldo to get the rest of the team playing in a manner appropriate for the league.

For me, United's best team is something like:

DDG

Dalot-Lindelof-Varane-Telles/Shaw

Fred-Matic-Bruno

Sancho-Cavani-Elanga

Most of them work hard, there's pace at the back allowing a high line, Matic can drop into the back line allowing Varane freedom, and the forwards all work and move. You can't look at that team and say that it's weaker than Arsenal, for example.

The issue for me is that nobody's going to drop a load of your biggest name players, but they unbalance the side and slow it down horribly. The rebuild can't happen properly imo until most of those players are shipped out.

De Gea sent out to front it out. Maguire the captain nowhere to be seen. Says it all really. Not a leader. Watch the Bryan Robson documentary on Amazon and see what a captain is !
