UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 18th May 2023]

If City win their game in hand we'd still be behind them with the extra points from Southampton, Liverpool and West Ham if we would have won. Then we would have had to beat Brighton to be ahead. You just have to be perfect to beat them in the league and we are far from that. Bit depressing really.
Well we are better than the other 18 teams in the league...

Where comfortably 2nd mate

No different to when we finished second behind City with Ole. We threw away points to Everton, We lost to bottom table Sheffield United and the same with second bottom WBA. 12 points behind in the end which will be similar to Arsenal this year. United team was hardly special then either.

Was United on top of the league for most of that season?

You don't get prizes for that Jonney

I beg to differ....

Was that the season where you had two games in three days because you had a game abandoned? I think it was.

United did it before FFP and through commercial income and owners investing. City have received millions from sponsors setup with no offices, no staff and no discernible products or services as money was paid into their accounts and then transferred to City.
Exactly, its mental comparing city to utd success. People keep banging that ABU drum though.

Anyone could have done what United did. They were at the forefront of what is modern football (Whether that is a good thing is up for debate) and deserved the fruits of their labour. In essence the club was ran really well till the Glazers came in. The difference with City is it is all fraud. Remember when Tesco got into big trouble for lying about their revenue to inflate stocks etc? No different here.
