UEFA Champions/Europa League Knockout Stage Draw - 16 December

Hmmm AC Milan...gonna be a hard tie but hopefully we can get a result and if Tevez goes to AC he wont be able to play against us...an added bonus is that Wilshere may be back from his injury when we play AC.

Regardless looking forward to playing AC in the next round...at least we didnt get Barca lol.

It's going to be a very tricky tie and the side we'll play against is quite different to the one we beat a few years back, reckon it's entirely winnable though as long as the team are injury free and play well over both legs, as Milan seem to ship a lot more goals these days. Hopefully being fellow countryman, Van Bommel won't break RVPs legs.

Stoke City Vs Valencia. Could've been better, could've been worse. To be honest I was secretly hoping for PSV though, that would've meant a Dutch friend of mine could've come over for a visit.

When you can get flights over there for £80 return it'd be rude not to go and see the potters in the Mestalla. It's the sort of draw that I wanted, realistically we aren't going to win the thing so I'd much prefer testing ourselves against the likes of Valencia and PSV rather than get nocked out against someone like Metalist.

Apparently UEFA (under the direction of FIFA) might kick Basel out of the Champions League and re-instate Manchester United because another team (Sion) fielded ineligible players in the qualifiers against Celtic: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16230934.stm

Does anyone especially MU fans think this is remotely fair on Basel who qualified on merit, outscored MU over their two ties and to my knowledge haven't been involved in any wrong-doing themselves? The more cynical might suggest that UEFA would much rather have MU in the knockout phase than Sion for commercial reasons, although I suspect as this is more to do with FIFA regulations than UEFA this has always been potentially on the cards and has only just been picked up on the media because of the implications for an English team.

No it wouldn't be fair on Basel, I hope this doesn't happen for everyone concerned (I doubt anyone at United would want to get back in like this) Imo it's a nothing story that the media are leaping on for obvious reasons.

i hope this doesn't happen as man utd don't deserve to be in there as they have played sub-par in the tournament this season and Basel were the better team

fifa can **** off. whats BASEL got to do with another club breaking the rules?

If for some stupid reason basel do get booted out, i hope united have the balls to decline an invite back to the CL as they dont deserve it. Just make a "buy" to the team that was suppose to face Basel
