UEFA Champions/Europa League Quarter-Final Draw [17th March 2017]

This just appears to be the standard Liverpool fan thing, saying we're 100% nailed on to win a competition. Even going on to state it's not as strong as last year when three of the clubs you've listed weren't good enough to get this far. If Spurs can lose over two legs to an unknown Belgian team and clubs like Roma, Athletic, Shakhtar etc can lose over two legs then it's far from easy. Especially as we're still playing our second choice keeper (who has done well but is no De Gea) and making decisions like playing Jones at left wing back.
LOL. Yesterday you were complaining about people ****ing on Pogba and now you're complaining that I'm saying Utd are better than other teams. Of course anything can happen and Utd could lose, don't take the nailed on thing literally but there is no side left in the competition that should challenge Utd.

Oh come on Baz. It's the same way before every Liverpool v United games all the Pool fans come on here and say they're in the worst form they've ever been and Utd will beat them with their eyes closed. Don't even try to claim you don't know what you're doing :D

Should be an easy enough tie but we always have a bad game or two in us. This is definitely our easiest route into the CL so we really need to be up for these EL games.

Most glad the away game isn't as tough a journey. Everyone above having less fixtures is going to be tough enough. A middle of the group draw imo. Could be easier but could be harder. Looking forward to seeing Tielemans, FM legend but I've never seen him outside of clips.

The world is not against you Shami :p

I say something negative about Utd it's jealously, I say something positive and it's mind games :o And for what it's worth, even when we had several key players out and in terrible form, I predicted we'd draw at OT the other month :p

An interesting draw; a decent team from what I believe to be fair? As already said, this competition needs to be the priority in order to get into the CL.

It's all mind games Baz. I'm sure you're smart enough to know that there is no such thing as an easy cup run, even in the Europa league. it's no different to Mourinho saying we'll lose at the weekend because of fatigue.

Excellent draw. I was there 20 years ago at Filbert Street when we got cheated out of the game. Will be sweet to knock them out of the CL 20 years later.

Again, don't take the initial post so literally. Whichever way you look at it though, Utd are a clear level above the other sides left in the competition. As I said, compare it to the teams in the quarters last season.

The teams that have been beaten by the teams remaining you mean?

Villarreal who didn't even top their group and then lost in the next round? Or Sevilla who couldn't even beat Leicester? See you've stopped mentioning Shakhtar and Bilbao ;)

Im not convinced this is true.

Ok so there are fewer games to get through, but compare that to stadia and players the majority of Utd players arent familiar with (compared to majority in the EPL that they are at least familiar with if not actually know reasonably well from an opposing player pov).

Given last night's performance it would be a huge mistake to gamble everything on those 5 EL games and forget about the league - one bad home performance and Utd could easily go out with no hope of getting top 4 in the league - when, at least in theory, we still have a good shot of getting it anyway.

Oh I'm not suggesting we ignore the league but at this point I would suggest it should be our main focus. We should try and get into top 4 as well but if it comes down to it, winning the EL would take priority.

I didn't stop mentioning anyone, I said etc as i couldn't be bothered listing the same teams over and over. And because Villarreal didn't top their group and Sevilla lost a freak tie to Leicester they and the other sides mentioned, suddenly aren't better than Genk and the like?

Mourinho's nonsense is wearing off on some Utd fans it seems ;)

Was it Genk or Gent that beat Spurs? Either way, you're seriously suggesting that either of them are therefore harder matches for Utd than playing Spurs?

Gent beat Spurs, then lost to Genk. No. but I'm suggesting if they can thrash the team that beat Spurs over two legs and that's the weakest team left in the competition then maybe you're doing the level of competition a disservice.

Saying they're clearly a level below Utd is doing them a disservice? Had I said they were as good as Utd you'd be moaning about that too. As I keep saying, don't take the initial comment so literally but if you're arguing that Utd aren't clearly better than any other side left in the competition then you're as bonkers as Mourinho saying Pogba was the best player on the pitch vs Chelsea ;)
