UEFA Champions League/Europa League 1/2/3 November *** Spoilers ***

Not a disaster tbh, Marseille are a good team and at least we didn't concede. Frustrating that we had the chances to put the game beyond them but it's still a point and a clean sheet.

Marseille's only goal conceded in the CL so far was by Ramsey in the last game right at the end due to some luck/defensive slackness, they weren't going to fall asleep today, tough team to beat. That'll get them into the knockouts but if they can't score against our defence then there's no hope for them.

Also Barca won 4-0 tonight, played most of the game against 10 men. Messi hat trick and Fabregas got one as well.

Thought Vermaelen did OK tonight considering it was his first start in a while and he had to play both LB and CB at the same time.

To be honest, not really, Diarra looked woeful, as did most of their defence, our finishing was a joke and Gervinho was basically through on goal what, 3 times just to have the ball taken off him as he waited and waited to shoot, same with Ramsey, great chance to score but took ages to decide what to do.

They weren't good defensively, they weren't Chelsea level bad ( :p ) but they weren't great.

Offensively, no idea why anyone would say they parked the bus, they bombed forward at every chance they could, they did however get 20-25yards from our goal and run out of idea's instantly. Their movement was relatively good running at our goal but at soon as they got there, they just stood still and made it very hard to pass anywhere in the box, they also refused to cross into our area in the first half for some reason. Though their delivery was awful so thats understandable, was quite funny when Cheyrou put in a crap ball, then the ball happened to come out to him about 4 times in a row and he put in the same god awful low pointless cross each time.

What a fabulous bunch of people.

Last night (for Arsenal) was just one of those days. Anyone that's played Football Manager knows that three days after a frantic game like Saturday's, your players are only going to be on 85-95% fitness and not capable of giving it their all. Silly Arsene.

No sharpness to our play last night I thought. We'd have been better off starting Arshavin, Benayoun and the Ox, but what can you do. I'd have rather drawn this game than one in the league.

I thought ITV used to show two games / night ( one on ITV 4) -anyone know why this has now changed?

I hope Fergie was talking about Smalling being the 2nd young defender - if he was talking about Evans, surely he has started to lose the plot!!

Pity Cleverley is out of this game - but Im still hoping he will make an appearance on Saturday vs Sunderland (it was only meant to be tiredness from such a long time out and a bit of a twinge that got him withdrawn last weekend, rather than an actual ankle injury re-occurance)

Its being reported that Raf should play vs Everton in the Reserves tomorrow, the sooner he is back the better (Smalling and Jones have done ok, but would prefer to see them in their proper positions)

Any which way Utd can win this the better (with 10 - 11 of their players probably behind the ball at all times - it could be a case of waiting for them to tire, and then get a couple of pens late on similar to two weeks ago)

Villareal with a lot of players out tonight which can hopefully mean we can go and get the 3 points. They are really needed with Bayern probably going to take them off Napoli or ideally a draw.

IIRC no English side has ever gone to Villarreal and won, I know we've gone there twice and drawn 0-0 and pretty sure Arsenal drew there 0-0 as well (Riquelme missing a pen). Everton went there and lost.

Even with their injuries it's going to be tough to go there and get 3 points

I'd heard about this.. Quite worried now! We could get away with a draw if Bayern beat Napoli, I think we're well resigned to the only place available to qualify is second. If Napoli turn over Bayern though we're in some serious **** without a win tonight.

I was watching the Sky buildup, but I've now switched over to ITV. Where's the stuff to do with the match? Why are they just fawning over Viera and Keane?! (As interesting as their past is, of course).

They'd already done their half-hour build up to this game.

Man Utd: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Fabio Da Silva, Valencia, Anderson, Rooney, Nani, Berbatov, Owen. Subs: Lindegaard, Evra, Park, Hernandez, Welbeck, Pogba, Fryers.

When I said I wanted a top class DM alongside Anderson I wasn't talking about Rooney :p

Unless we're playing Hernandez and Welbeck at the weekend then I would have rather one of them started over Owen I think.

I'm wanting to see a brilliant performance tonight, we're in a bit of a rut at the moment when it comes to footballing quality.

We don't have any other midfield options really, everyones out for the count apparently!
