UEFA Champions League/Europa League 12/13/14 April 2016 *** Spoilers ***

Two fantastic legs of football, tbh. I thought both sides were excellent over two legs too, Liverpool were magnificent tonight, especially after their poor start.

I was out for a meal and saw it was 0-2 to BVB so I got home and thought I'll stick it on to see how it ended....oh my days what a game of football!!

Credit to Liverpool I had given up on them getting anything as soon as it went 3-1 but that was a fantastic turnaround, will they take the 4th spot for Champion's League qualification if they win the tournament or do we just get given an extra place?

• Regarding the top three associations (i.e. Spain, Germany and England*): if two clubs from one of these countries win the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, and neither finish their domestic league in a position that qualifies them for the UEFA Champions League, the following will happen:

– The club that won the UEFA Champions League will go straight into the group stage
– The UEFA Europa League winners will go into the UEFA Champions League play-offs
– The club that had qualified for a UEFA Champions League play-off spot via their domestic league competition (i.e. finished fourth) will transfer into the UEFA Europa League

----

so lets assume lpool win europa, and city get 4th. Then we will have 5 teams.

If city win CL, lpool win CL, but west ham get 4th, then west ham go to Europa, city and lpool go to CL. Still 5 teams in CL overall, but that's the scenario where 4th misses out.

The draw is finished.

City vs Real Madrid
Atletico vs Bayern

Edit - nvm, just saw we have a dedicated thread for it.

even the Allen/Sturridge subs didn't really work (right players on, wrong ones off)

I find this quite a strange thing to read. Klopp bought Allen and Sturridge on in the 62nd minute, and then Liverpool scored three times without conceding. Surely this is the definition of subs working?

Yes and no. If you looked at the game and our actual performance, I wouldn't say we performed better after the subs. We scored 2 goals from set-plays and Coutinho smashed 1 in from 20 yards. We didn't really create anything clear cut - before the subs we were far more creative. I don't think the subs were the reason we got back into the game - it was the never say die attitude that Klopp's brought and Dortmund getting twitchy when Coutinho pulled 1 back with 20 odd minutes to go.

Fwiw, I'd have brought the same players on but for Milner and Firmino.

Milner has that attitude to keep going until the final whistle and to be fair it was a cracking assist for Lovren, just allthose pathetic corners...

It's been the same all season - we don't have a single set piece taker in our side. Even the corner Coutinho took that Sakho scored from was terrible.

One of the pundits made the point last night and it's been true all season, Milner's delivery from open play is 1000x better than from a dead ball.
