UEFA Champions League/Europa League 12/13/14 March *** Spoilers ***

Outstanding performance from us tonight. Despite the draw in the first leg I was quietly confident that we'd get at least a score draw today - you could see in the 1st leg that Bayern were terrified of us and that showed with how they set-up again today, it was like they were the away side. Robertson's yellow was incredibly harsh but given the state of the game what's he thinking of even making a tackle there? Milner will be the obvious replacement but I wouldn't bet against Gomez playing LB.

Great to see VVD getting on the scoresheet again, hopefully there's more to come because given how dominant he is in the air he should be scoring more. Mane's got to take man of the match though - he's been our standout player of late and that's now 10 in 10 games for him.

One goal from a terrible mistake and another one from a static, corner, didn't see the third but anyways, huge dose of luck, also.

Luck? The first goal was outstanding play from Mane, the 2nd was VVD being a beast and the 3rd was a great cross from Salah. The best team won and you could tell from the way Bayern set-up in both games that they knew they were an inferior side to us.

The German teams are mediocre. The first goal was a gift given to you by Neuer, not so much what Mane did.

Wow, you can taste the salt in here from some posters.

Hmm, Liverpool played with high pressure and aggression, were fresh and fast, and the ball in some instances was like glued to their feet.
But Bayern didn't do anything meaningful tactically to be a serious opponent. It was obvious.

Hence, the comments that they were rubbish and mediocre. Don't you agree and why?

Let's be honest, we played one of the best teams in Europe, not a team that would struggle in the Championship like Schalke :o

Bayern struggle in the championship?

Can you not comprehend how ridiculous that sounds?

Blimey, I’m in no way Liverpool’s biggest fan, but some of the saltiness in here tonight has been embarrassing.

He said Schalke.

Also, why can't a team play that well they make the other team look poor? For example, last night, the Championship, the majority won't know what that is but Leeds beat Reading 3-0, we were superb, we made them look woeful (they actually are) but they do have decent form at home and we dominated from start to finish, made them make mistakes and exploited their weaknesses.

Apologies, I thought he was comparing Bayern to Schalke.

It’s just like last season when Liverpool took a dump on everyone on their way to the final the other team was bad or the ref spotted them 5 goals vs City :D

Enjoy supporting your slave state funded club :)

Can't believe a City fan is saying Liverpool got lucky, they've had much tougher opposition this year and last.

Bayern's gameplan was awful, if they'd actually gone at Liverpool they would have probably scored a few but as Baz said they were terrified of the away goal.

So does anybody know why this piece of **** VAR didn't give Liverpool a penalty yesterday when Salah was tripped, clearly disadvantaged but stayed on his feet?

There's some proper odd posts in this thread. Bayern didn't want to score now? :o

Look at the last 20 minutes, when Bayern were having to chase the game and see what happened. Bayern still didn't create anything and we looked like we could open them up whenever we went forward. As good as Hummels and to a lesser extent Sule are, they can't deal with the likes of Salah and Mane on the break. Bayern set-up the way they did (and Kovac said as much too) because they knew if they took the game to us then they risked getting ripped apart - they wanted to play on the break vs us. Bayern are hardly unique in this sense either - PSG away, for the first 45mins, are just about the only side that's really attacked us this season, even City have been relatively passive in the games vs us.
