Best team of modern football playing attacking football vs a CHelsea team in termoil

You would take anything against SuperduperwoopernotabadwordaboutBarca FC after Chelseas season

I assume the constant orgasmic like praise that Barca seem to get is getting boring to you too? I found the first 30 minutes of the game incredibly tedious because of the commentators!

Lol @ everyone criticising Chelsea. What do you want them to do? Play open, attacking football? Just lol.

With the money they've spent yes, football is an entertainment and if you're happy watching that bilge then fine but don't expect football fans to want to congratulate Chelsea on a negative 'dive every chance you get' performance but having watched them against Napoli we shouldn't expect anything else

And when has a player ever been sent off for that?

To coin Baz's favourite line Drogba didn't go down once without contact tonight.

I'm sure a player has been sent off for a second yellow on dives before? Or wasting time? Like Ramos and Alonso last year was it not for Real?

Yeah, plenty of contact when he stamped on Busquets and then dived :D

They didn't concede against a full strength Barcelona attack, I'd class that as defending well.

Of course Barcelona were better, they'll always be better, but the best footballing team doesn't always win.

Missing Villa. Not 'full strength'

Both teams should try and play football though.

They happened to get lucky with a goal which proves football is indeed a funny old game but when they try that next match I pray they will get spanked because I don't want to watch that **** everytime I tune into a CL broadcast.

They didn't "get lucky with a goal". It was a good goal!

I would have put tello in the second half, his pace in the wing would have been better than iniesta's constant passes back to the middle. Thats a problem barca have when teams pack the middle.

Yes, no Villa but it's still extremely strong.

If Chelsea 'played football' they would have been beaten at least 5-0. They want to win.

Real Madrid have done a similar thing to Chelsea and look at their team, and they usually lose as well.

Not at all but there is a difference between defending and having no intention of even playing football which Chelski had for 90 minutes. They happened to get lucky with a goal which proves football is indeed a funny old game but when they try that next match I pray they will get spanked because I don't want to watch that **** everytime I tune into a CL broadcast.

Have you ever seen Barcelona play before? Pretty much all teams play this way against them. Chelsea had a game plan to combat Barca's style (their only style) which they executed perfectly. Tactics won the game, nothing more, nothing less. Therefore Chelsea deserved to win. Get over yourself.

Good result for Chelsea. If they can snatch an away goal at the Camp Nou then who knows what can happen. I can't see Barca being as wasteful at home though.

Yes I have and no they don't.

You watch any Spanish team play them (I watch them most weeks on the La Liga thing) and whilst yes, they are primarily defending they are playing counter attacking football and are always ready to break out.

At no time did Chelski even seem to want the ball, they just didn't want it in their half. As soon as they got it they put their foot through it and reset their lines.

You could call the above tactical and I would have to agree but if football goes down that route it will be a sad, sad day.

Football is not 'going down that route', this is just how you play against a considerably superior team. You counter attack and defend as well as you can.

So not full strength.

People might think I'm being bitter or funny, but I'm a football purest and a student of the game. I don't think that's how you play football, I don't think if you know anything about the evolution of the game; history of tactics, evolution of play, you don't enjoy watching Chelsea or any other side play like that.

In all honesty, if that's as good as English football is in Europe, I don't want to watch English teams in Europe.

The Arsenal tie last year was an absolutely fantastic game of football, could have gone either way.

Barcelona are a force of nature at home, I'm sure they won't be as sloppy with chances, after all 15 shots on target away against this 'amazing defensive performance'.

He is right though, Chelsea didn't look like they 'wanted' the ball at any real point in the game. It's a huge shame for football.

There is 'how you play against Barcelona' you go one of two ways, you counter attack ala Real Madrid, or you attack ala Arsenal.

Chelsea weren't even counter attacking, besides Drogba who had enough problems staying on his feet.
