UEFA Champions League/Europa League 17/18/19 February *** Spoilers ***

Did seem like it .. Mario took charge and dealt with it.. other teammates need to eat some humble pie and carry on with the job at hand. Anyway a Wins a win.. that little incident is just minors.

Is it just me who(maybe not seeing something with Sturridge) saw Balo take the ball of Henderson who seemed to be holding it like he wanted it. It was Henderson seemingly talking to Balo around the pen spot while he was waiting to take it and Sturridge who came across and seemed to get Henderson to move away. Then in celebrating Henderson tapped him, tried to walk away and Balotelli grabbed him and gave him a big hug to seemingly make up about it?

Yeah interesting dynamic that, apparently gerrard said hendo should have took it and mario was mischievous.

And Gerrards being critical of mario now. Chuck that fuel on the fire.

Good lad Mario and Hendo in the end, right in front of me and looked more like Studge wanted Hendo to touch it. Only one player out there who should've taken that and he did

****lords in the away end **** off

We can presume Gerrard knew Henderson was the designated taker then, thus I can laugh at the "Sturridge crying" posts and the commentators who got it completely wrong. Have to wonder why Henderson is the penalty taker in this situation... Balotelli or Sturridge seem the pretty obvious choices.

Of course, when.... Mirallas did the same then missed it, I forget who was commentating and the studio guys were acting like it was the end of the world and was "bad even if he scored it" as apparently you just don't do that. Balotelli does basically the same, no one really cares?

Though the main difference is everyone knew Baines is one of the best penalty takers in the league.... I don't think anyone thinks the same about Henderson. So in the Mirallas case he was going against who the dressing room thought should take it while maybe Liverpool players and the fans/pundits didn't feel the same way about Henderson. Was he only the designated taker because they see him as taking over Gerrard's role in the team?

Who cares, kop cheered when Balo took the ball, we knew it was a goal. The biggest **** up in the situation was Rodgers not having Balo as designated taker when on the pitch

Pretty bad from Gerrard too, Hendo and Studge did nothing wrong though

Not impressed by steve g since he announced he is going. The only running he has done this year is running his mouth:(
Balo should always be the penalty taker when Gerard is not on. I think its a bit to early for Henderson to be captain.

The penalty incident is much to do about nothing. There's no way Henderson, somebody that I don't think has ever taken a competitive penalty, was meant to take the pen ahead of Balotelli. I can only imagine that Rodgers never thought or mentioned the possibility of us being awarded after Balotelli coming on. Iirc there was some talk after Balotelli's debut for us about who was the penalty taker and Rodgers said it was still Gerrard but Balotelli was 2nd in line.

Rodgers has just confirmed in his Southampton press-conference that the situation was pretty much as I said above. Of the starting 11 Henderson was on pens but if they're on the pitch it's Gerrard and then Balotelli.

Still poor from Brendan If he hasn't communicated it properly. Also as much as I like Hendo I'd like someone else to take the pen, same with Studge

It was just a mix up. Rodgers may not have felt he needed to make it clear as it should have been obvious that if he's on the pitch and Gerrard isn't then Balotelli's on pens.

Henderson didn't seem to fussed about Balotelli taking it, I think the issue was caused more by Sturridge than him. It doesn't look like Sturridge liked the idea of Balotelli getting the praise for 3 wins on the spin.

The Celtic game was crazy and £35 for the ticket wasn't bad.

Again, easily the best atmosphere in European football.

you have been to all the big European games?

:p I've been to plenty, last one I went to was in the Nou Camp and we got beat 6-1! :(

I've been to loads of European nights at Celtic Park and last night was the best even though the result wasn't much use.
