Ferdinand has been rested for our trip to Romania, Cleverley and Rafa still not fit, Vidic has travelled though. Need to pick up 6 points out of 6 in these two games against Galati after our poor start to the group. With City in mind I think we should line up like this;

---------------De Gea---------------
Smalling---Vidic---Evans---Fabio
Valencia--Carrick--Anderson--Young
---------------Rooney
------------------Hernandez

Subs: Lindegaard, Jones, Fletcher, Giggs, Park, Nani, Berbatov

Anything less than a win would be a disaster, need to treat them with respect and play our good players from the start and not end up ******* it up like we did against Basel. Fair enough if we have a comfortable lead then take them off in the second half. We shouldn't be waiting until we're behind in games then bringing players on like we have recently.

Still would prefer to see Jones and Vidic at the back (even though I take your point about resting him for the City game)

Personally I would go with Sham's suggestion , start as many senior players as possible to take this game seriously (after Utd ****** up the last two CL games) and rest people for the 2nd half , or how ever long it takes - once the job is do

sounds like Rooney will at least start which is a good thing - and is Evra's mind right after the allegations (havent even seen Fabio on the bench recently , is he actually game fit?), but given the choice I would put Nani, Jones and Evra in the starting XI , in their natural positions instead of Fabio, Evans and Valencia

Time to bring some consistancy to the side (although I wish Cleverley was available to get a match before City so he could start/play)

edit - was really hoping this would be on ITV, as I cant afford to go to the pub tomorrow (cash wise and overhang wise for Wednesday lol)

Vidic and Jones have never played as a centre back partnership, with Rio not travelling Vidic and Evans is the strongest centre back partnership available in terms of experience (a smaller case could be made for Smalling and Vidic)

Given Fergie's recent praise of Evans in the media though it wouldn't surprise me if Evans is one of those that is maybe rested with an eye on the City game meaning Vidic & Jones could well play together albeit not for the reasons you're suggesting

A win for both Manchester clubs is a must. A draw isn't going to cut it, maybe Man U can get away with it but this is a must win game for Man city.

given how long Vidic has been out for that isnt highly surprising but Jones is still a much better player than Evans (despite how much praise he has been getting, he is still making mistakes) - plus with Rio constantly being rested, even if he can still be classified as still first choice (which Im not sure considering the "consistancy" which has been stressed recently also) surely its going to be Vidic and Jones as the first choice pair with Smalling as right back

While Utd have to respect their opponants, Vidic and Jones has to be tried at some point competitively, and this is probably a more winnable game then majority of EPL games (given their part time / form nature) and I cant see Vidic playing many if any Carling Cup games until Semi or final if that (if Utd get that far of course)

Europa get on the OP's thread but the Championship doesn't?? :p For the small minority...

Npower Championship
Barnsley v Burnley, 19:45
Ipswich v Portsmouth, 19:45
Leeds v Coventry, 19:45
Millwall v Brighton, 19:45
Nott'm Forest v Middlesbrough, 19:45
Peterborough v Cardiff, 19:45
Southampton v West Ham, 19:45
Blackpool v Doncaster, 20:00
Crystal Palace v Bristol City, 20:00
Reading v Derby, 20:00

Come on Leeds. Let's make it 16 points from 18,

what do u guys think of the man city game tonight, in trouble if they dont win dont you reckon?

Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov; De Jong Yaya Toure; Johnson, Silva Nasri; Dzeko
Expected Clichy instead of Kolarov because i dont think Villareal have top wingers? but Kolarov's freekicks and crosses could be key for Dzeko.

Good to see De Jong back also, really missed him so far i think.

Got my tickets for the stoke game today :D cant wait, really enjoyed the europa league so far, Think if we win Thursday we will qualify

What are you talking about, the Europa League is supposed to be an insult to football featuring reserve teams in front of 3 men and a dog, basically an excuse for managers to moan about the drain on the players the following weekend :)

Gives smaller teams a chance to play the best team in Europe.
