UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2/3/4 May *** Spoilers ***

professional performance away from home - a bit lucky not to concede but very unlucky to only score one

Sublime free kick from Rashford, we waste 90% of them so its nice to see one test the gk let alone actually score

missed the 2nd injury bbc mentioned , as soon as Young made the sliding block I thought it looked like he was injured - would have been good to keep him fit as we have so few actually fit defenders but hey ho

Still more than capable of thowing away the tie next week ....

edit Rashford was the 2nd injury - my stream ****** when the subs happened, wasn't he just rested for the final 20 mins?

All we need to do is draw at home, we're so damn good at that.
only in the PL....... different comp different stats ):

Only had one draw in the EL this season (at home) - although from what I remember it could easily have been at least two more with the shocking performances

BaZ - if you havent already seen it since a couple of weeks ago

IF Leicester had won the CL and Utd won the EL - even 4th in the league would be in EL next season (which of course isnt possible now)
If Utd win EL - 4th place (ie City currently) gets a CL qualifier in Aug

So potentially England could have 5 CL places in 17-18, I think it was the latter which we werent sure of wasnt it?

No, I knew that. The only thing we (or me at least) wasn't aware of is how they arrange the qualifying rounds had Utd won the EL and came 4th as Utd would qualify automatically and the 4th place qualifying spot wouldn't go to the side in 5th. I'm still not exactly sure how it would work but at a guess I'd say that somebody would get a by in one of the earlier qualifying rounds to make up for 1 less side.

I remembered that just after posting and I think I just saw the answer via the Independant

If Utd win the EL - they still might have to qualify for the CL in early Aug , depending on whether this seasons's CL winner has already qualified for next seasons comp or not

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...uropa-qualify-group-stage-place-a7719741.html

So as long as Atletico dont win the competition - which doesnt look likely, but is possible - then IF Utd win the EL they get entered into the group stages

(looks like Sevilla might still be able to mathmatically pip Atletico to 3rd in La Liga)

Obviously Monaco, Juve and Real are most likely / definitely going to qualify directly

so the EL win only entitles to a CL qualifier for the next season for definite (no automatic entry into group stage, which I also thought was the case from winning the EL)

edit - 4th also gets a qualifier spot if Utd win EL and finish 5th in the EPL

Oh ok. It's 99.99% certain that the CL winner will have already qualified automatically so it's safe to say that the EL winners will end up qualifying automatically.

Where's this going Frank?

Ok, thanks. I wasn't confused about that though - the only thing I didn't know was what happened to the spare qualifying spot had Utd came 4th and won the EL.
