UEFA Champions League/Europa League 24/25/26 February *** Spoilers ***

Hmm, BT Commentators laughing off the Feyenoord supporters throwing an inflatable banana onto the pitch in the game against Roma, not realising it was thrown on when Gervihno was across at that side  they caught up eventually.....

Forget the penalty miss, it was the wastefulness in the first half and terrible tactics in the second half that cost us tonight. They were there for the taking and we should have put the tie to bed in the first half, why we sat off them in the second half I'll never know, one goal from us wins it but instead why try to see out a 0-0.

thats it you only needed 1 goal and it was done, but that miss will hurt lovrens confidence.

you looked like the team that got man handled by most of the epl and championsleague from last fall tonight, infact you were not much better against southampton

Surely it's obvious?

Allows focus on Fa cup and 4th place.
Thanks to Europa league we have an early sunday game against man city after playing 120mins...
So many extra games avoided.
No more Thurs/Sun games.
Everyone else going for 4th has no Europe distractions.

It's nice to win it of course but there's so many games still to go even if we get to the final.

Lol.. I am sure if Liverpool had won you would have said the opposite!

Just had a shower and the Feyenoord v Roma match is suspended??? Anyone know what happened? More racism stuff?

EDIT

Sounds like it might be the case

EDIT EDIT

One of the Feyenoord subs has been sent off after Manu equalises for them??!?!?!?!?!

I see nothing has really changed, Chelsea the only team looking likely to represent the EPL in the latter stages of European competitions.

The rest are garbage tier.

For all the money EPL teams generate, the show they put on is woeful in Europe.

Theres 2 'Pool fans at work that are happy they've been knocked out, and it really grates me.

Football really has changed to just wanting to be in 1 competition, the champs league. As an Everton fan im happy we're in the europa comp (even though its harming out league position) as I want us to win the trophy (that is the point to the sport isnt it?)

They're trying to make themselves feel better, I can understand not caring about early domestic cup exits but Europe is great fun and a good trophy, sucks to be out but we deserve it

I can understand Rodgers wanting to get a semi-decent trophy under his belt, but I couldn't care less about the Europa League myself. That said, it would have been better if they went out in 90 minutes and at home, not thousands of miles away and lose on penalties.

I went to a few UEFA/Europa Newcastle games over the past decade and it's just not the same. Stadium not nearly full, atmosphere a bit rubbish, etc. I'm sure if they got to the later stages it might be different, but I've always struggled to appreciate it. I think 10 years ago it was a bigger trophy, but now it's all about the Champions League and I just see the Europa League as little more than a hindrance.

It lost all appeal for me when they removed the Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Cup was entirely bumped off to Thursday nights and the 3rd-placed finishers in the Champions League entered the knock-out stages. From that point onwards I just looked down on it as a poor trophy with minimal attraction.

At least they've finally given a proper reward to the winners with a Champions League qualifying placement.

We need Wenger gone, so many players coast. There was an interview in which Ozil said along the lines of "I'm the world champion, I see no need to improve" in regards to his turgid performances for Arsenal for the previous 6 months. Why would he see the need to improve, no matter how badly he plays, he starts when fit. Same goes for a huge portion of the squad.

Ox occasionally gets those kinds of goals and I mean VERY occasionally but his woeful giving the ball away and costing us goals happens a lot more often. He was starting when completely undeserved but only because other better favourites of Wenger were fit. Ox needed dropping when he was having a run of games because he was terrible. Ozil needed dropping multiple times since 3 months after he joined Arsenal when he stopped what little effort he was putting in.

A new manager would likely put the fear of god into many of the lazy stupid players we currently have but would also do a better job of moving on those we don't need and bringing in what we do need.

250mil we've spent in 4 seasons and the closest we've come to a defensive midfielder or physical player is Arteta and Flamini... we've spent more on CRAP left backs when he starts Gibbs(who sucks) anyway, than a position we had effectively no one to fill. Flamini was a sicknote who was washed up and only marginally useful, the fact that he improved us in central mid is a pretty scathing criticism of Arteta's effectiveness. Even then it's more of a criticism of Wenger because Arteta was always really a creative attacking midfielder, was absurd to buy him to cover holding midfield roles in the first place.

A new manager would improve the existing squad, change the mentality, actually drop players who played like crap or constantly backed out of tackles, showed no effort on the pitch and would likely highlight the biggest changes required and ATTEMPT to fix them, you might buy the wrong player, it's better than ignoring the problem entirely.

Honest to god the only time I saw Ozil even show a hint of caring was when he kicked the ball out accidentally, didn't get the call given(incorrectly) his way and he slammed the ball down and got a yellow card. He didn't get that fired up when we conceded, or when he had to tackle or fight to stay on his feet, just over a god damned throw in after the game was over anyway.
na gvie wenger time man he will turn things around
