Anzhi 1-0 Liverpool

Decent performance but we lacked the cutting edge yet again. Thought Downing and Carragher played very well and Suso was immense when he came on, the ball just seems to stick to his feet.

Not impressed with Cole, although he did improve in the second half, and Pacheco was awful. He was the one player that everyone thought would make it but it's never quite happened for him in this country and I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave along with Cole, Downing and Carroll in the not to distant future.

Edit: Forgot to mention Wisdom again. One mistake but he feels like part of the furniture now. Can't believe he's still a youngster playing his first season.

The line is a actually pretty funny.

What makes it really funny is the clowns paid 20 million quid for the privilege.
 
It's hard enough going to Russia at the best of times (I can't recall too many English sides getting anything when going there) and knowing we were sending a 2nd team, I didn't expect anything from the game but we could and should have come away with a point. Both today and 2 weeks ago Anzhi have been hugely underwhelming and Eto's wallet seems to be weighing him down, I don't think he left the centre circle in either game.

I hope we start seeing him play off the front more often (with Gerrard right and Sahin alongside Allen). He's technically such a good player but hasn't got the pace to be as effective playing out wide.
 
Young Boys are 2-1 up vs Udinese. As long as Udinese don't win, a win vs Young Boys should be enough to go through before the away game in Italy.
 
Young Boys won 3-2 so a win vs them next time round will qualify us providing Udinese don't win in Russia. If they do then we might need a point in Italy in the last game.
