I thought Bayern played poorly over the two legs, they dominated possession and stats but didn't create much except when they needed to... each time they got in a position of being behind in the tie though they didn't seem to have much trouble scoring goals. It's almost like their mentality is just to dilly-dally around in midfield hogging the ball and then when they realised "oh **** we need to score" they went a lot more direct like last season and scored relatively easily, it must be the Guardiola effect.
I disagree in part.
I think Bayern
controlled the leg for large periods of play, they hold on to the ball well and constantly recycle possession and probe looking for a 'weakness', much like Barcelona used to do when Guardiola was in charge, the big difference is that Ineista and Messi are just wonderful, creative and genius footballers they would always at some point do something mesmerising.
I think Arsenal were worse against Bayern, Bayern barely got out of second gear against Arsenal because they just did not need to. I think United fared a little better, but were very defensive which I think suits Moyes (for whom I consider a defensive manager) as opposed to Wenger to just got a lot of things wrong against Bayern.
Athletico were fabulous against Barcelona, whom are not having a brilliant season this season, but I'm sure Jamie 'I know nothing about football herp derp' Redknapp would still spout forth more hyperbolic rubbish about them being the team 'everyone wants' because of them being a poor side.
I actually think Chelsea are probably the least equipped of the last four, simply because the are so limp in front of goal due to having three poor forwards.
Paris looked too confident, almost arrogant and looked totally confused at times in the Chelsea match (thought it was a poor second leg) and Chelsea looked focused, wasn't a game full of particularly good football in my opinion.
Real were a force of nature at home, and Dortmund were a force of nature at home, but Real were just a little bit better over the two legs (scoring more goals) and it's nice to see Dortmund turn out for a performance like we all know they are capable of.
Anyway; still think Moyes is out of his depth at Manchester United and I do not think he understands the level of expectation expected of him or the team, he lacks a style... but I could rant about that for a long time, however, United have more positives to take out of this years Champions League that Arsenal do.
