UEFA Champions League/Europa League Group Stage Draws 29/30 August

To be fair that's a fun group for Celtic. Why wouldn't you wanna play the biggest teams? Some great away trips in there.

Thats pretty much what all the Celtic fans on the BBC were saying before the draw.

People writing off Napoli ? surprised people would comment if they watch so little European Football. They've made some decent signings this summer a mini Spurs if you will in that they've lost their best player for big money, but have brought in 4-5 talented players to soften the blow.

None are as good as Cavani but all together this Napoli side is now far more dynamic in attack, they made 3 signings in attack this season to go with Pandev and Insigne who they already owned. Callejon, Mertens and Higuain supported by Hamsik, I expect them to do the business at home against all 3 teams as it really is a fortress the San Paolo. Whether that's good enough to send them through who knows but as it stands I'll give them more of a chance than Arsenal.

People also saying united are home and dry, they have 6 games that wont be easy at all.

You do know Kagawa wasn't there last year when they got to the.... final. Likewise Gotze was injured and they still did very well in the final and have played very well without Gotze multiple times. They are great defensively, have a fantastic out and out striker and some very good wide strikers/players and a strong central midfield.

Of course they have a great squad but they hardly steamrolled every single side on their way to the final, they also couldn't retain their domestic league title last year either. I'm under no illusions that the games will be straightforward, I just don't think we're going to roll over and concede 3, 4, 5 goals or whatever.

Fenerbahce update:

The UEFA Emergency Panel has decided all losing teams in the UEFA Europa League play-offs will enter a draw on Friday to decide who replaces Fenerbahçe SK in the group stage.

This replacement draw will take place in Monaco on Friday 30 August at 09.00CET and will be streamed live on UEFA.com

Fenerbahce update:

But why would anyone replace Fenebache in the group stage, they're out now even if they weren't banned?

EDIT:- Do'h , misread, Europa league group stage, I didn't even know if you screwed up at that point you go straight into the Europa league group stage. Though that announcement doesn't specifically say which competition they'd get a spot in, just that the teams with a shot are Europa league play off losers.

Hmm, then it becomes odd, if Fenebache weren't in the champs league play offs then another team would have played Arsenal, potentially lost and gone into the Europa league, shouldn't that team go through instead of Fenebache rather than one from an entirely different group of teams? It's all daft, it's completely ridiculous that they allowed a team that was almost certainly going to be banned playing in a play off game rather than making this judgement over the summer and giving the next team in line the same shot.
