UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [20/21/22 October 2015]

Best 3 for us today (in no order) Can, Lallana and Sakho imo.

Difference with Lucas compared to Allen has been noticeable. Hard to see what Origi offers and when Benteke, Sturridge and Ings are all available I cant see him getting a game.

At least on the plus side, if it ends like this Klopp is still unbeaten but he is definitely going to need to weed out some of the players and bring in his own wanted players.

Perhaps if there was movement in front of him he wouldn't have to but as per usual stats have clouded your view of a player.

Dont bite! He posts the same thing about Couts every game we play, no one has bitten so far!

haha, was there not enough movement ahead of him with Sturridge and Suarez? where he took 94 shots with 5 goals. Sure, he's only now shooting loads and only now has a poor shots/goals ratio because there wasn't much movement ahead of him.... sure.

Same stats 2 seasons ago as last year and even worse this year... but it's because of the lack of movement ahead of him.

Take home from the commentators:

"Why aren't liverpool playing like vintage dortmund yet?"

The attacking side will take a lot of time I feel, we just look shot of any sort of attacking confidence. The sooner we get the injured guys back the better.

Edit - Firmino and Benteke back, just need Studge and Hendo back now.

Commentator's a bell stop. Lost count of the amount of times he said 'If this was Rodgers...'

Marked improvement when Firmino and Benteke came on but we're really missing Henderson's drive and pace in midfield.

Now jake is pushing the "but Rodgers wouldn't be applauded for this" viewpoint, it's Klopp's second game, Rodgers had them playing this badly after three years and 300million on mostly players he either chose or agreed to. Everything about BT irks me, bad commentators, awful pundits, very odd viewpoint and they clearly seem to have certain agendas to push game to game. We've had "lets congratulate the ref for every decision" games, now we've got the "lets talk up a UK boss and play down the foreign guy" crap throughout this game.

Pretty rubbish performance. I'm not sure this 4-3-2-1 formation is suited to the players we've got, certainly not in the attacking areas. Coutinho and Lallana lack the pace to play in wider roles and you could see both were struggling to get into the game - it was only when we brought Benteke on and Lallana played off the front that he started to cause them problems. Hopefully with some of attacking players coming back things will change.
Baz, I'm not sure what you're trying to get at? Or what we're now discussing.
I stated that Arsenal were not an Elite European team, however they were in the top 10. 5 yrs 10 yrs, what ever time period you want to make. Would you agree?
I'm sure you'll want to put Liverpool in there somewhere, but that's not happening :p

I thought we agreed at the time Arsenal weren't elite but were in the top 10. You then asked about where they stand below those 3.

And you can hang on to your mythical top 10 place. I've seen my team win the CL, no Arsenal fan in the world ever has :p

It goes nicely with our 4th place trophy :p

Liverpool are an Elite club as well though, i'd of said anyway.

Very true, not ever day you can take Russians 12th best team and keep them at bay for the draw at home :D

If we list the players in a CL final since Arsenal we get a list of

Milan(2), Liverpool, Utd(3), Chelsea(2), Barcelona(3), Inter(1), Bayern(3), Dortmund, Atletico, Real, Juventus.

So that is 11 other teams just in the final since we actually had a realistic shot at winning it. Should we go for Europa league, including 05/06 Sevilla have been in the europa league final and won it 4 freaking times. Chelsea 1 win, Atletico won it twice, Porto, Zenit, Shakhtar. Rangers, Fulham, Bilbao, Benfica, Dnipro, Espanyol, Boro and Fulham(yup saying that one again) have got to the final though lost.

Now I'm not saying they are all euro elites, but Sevilla won A european league 4 times in the past decade... I'd say that puts them above Arsenal, Atletico and Chelsea just adding to their credentials.

Then Arsenal's history, since being runners up(the last time we played truly good football), we've gone out in the round of 16 in six out of 9 attempts, two quarter finals, one semi final, it's be 5 years on the trot we've gone out at the round of 16 though. So should we list the rest of the teams that got to any stage beyond the round of 16 in the past 5 years, sure, why not.

Spurs, Shakhtar, Schalke, Inter(a different year), Apoel, Marseille, Milan, Benfica, Malaga, Galatasaray, Juve, PSG, Monaco, Porto.

When you look at all the teams that have won european titles, all the teams that have gotten to finals since 05/06, all the teams that have gotten to a latter stage than Arsenal in the past 5 years I find it laughable to suggest we're in the top 10.

Look at that last list, teams who are getting to later stages than us, those getting to finals, many of them(most of that last list) spend 100+ mil a year less on wages than us... but we're the elite? 5 teams in the first list spend less than Arsenal, again several of them 100mil or more less yet have gotten to finals and how many of these teams also won league titles as well?

The only team doing worse than Arsenal are frankly City... who are by no means a european elite. PSG maybe spend more, but they spent a decade out of the champs league, the money is relatively new and since they got back to qualifying for the CL they have not achieved quarter finals every year, 3 years in a row, still better than us.

Only City haven't done better than Arsenal, another team that has fired managers for not achieving good enough results in Europe. City are a disaster in europe for what they spend, we are a joke in europe when taking into account what we spend. Lots of teams have significantly outperformed us in europe on half the budget or less.

DM what planet are you from?
You are complaining that Arsenal haven't won the Europa league and deeming it a fail, because we were in the Champs League?
You don't get to be considered a top team because you have one or two good seasons and then several total **** seasons (Liverpool, Spurs, Milan).
This is and never has been a discussion about Arsenal being an elite euro team. It's just stating that they have consistently been amongst them and on more than several occasions, beaten them.

Again, spending. From the 'top 10' list I stated, net spend over the past 5-10 yrs Arsenal, Dortmund & Athleti would all be amongst the lowest. Which is a proven fact.

You can argue Arsenal have made it to the final (and with 10 men made it a hell of a game) in the past 10 years........Same amount of time Real in 10 yrs. 2014 had the most points in calendar year than any other club. Every single year, consistently get written off, yet prove everyone wrong.
Are they world beaters? No.

Here is some evidence to actually back up what I'm saying: Offical Uefa Rankings over past 5yrs:

Liverpool are 54.

And yet they are higher than us on your all so important table that prove Arsenal are a top European club. Same source also proves you are getting worse not better year on year as a few seasons ago you were 6th. Wenger out?
