UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ... Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich ... *** Spoilers ***

And Dortmund should have had Lewandowski sent off for his stamp on Boateng;).

I agree he should have been sent off and as annoying as it is to see him involved in the goals I can understand why Ribery wasn't sent off, but the fact that Dante was on a yellow already and the ref gave a penalty for a challenge that could have been a straight red itself it's bemusing how it ended 11 v 11!

As finals go that was quite a good one, there was still plenty of the annoying theatrics but both teams tried to play their football which is always good.
I thought Robben had shot his bolt with his misses in the 1st half but fair play to him for having the balls to take the winner the way he did.
I was a bit disappointed with Leawanwhatsisname though, he started brightly but seemed to get frustrated too easily.
Chelsea can sack that song off now.

We'll probably just change the are to were or Europe to Europa, either way at least we're in a position to sing it ;)

Lewandowski just didn't have the support. Kuba and Grobkreutz were both very wide and Reus just disappeared after 30 mins. They really missed Gotze in the centre.

Didn't help that Lewandowski was more interested in fouling than winning the ball for huge portions of the game, win the ball a couple more times and hold it up for support and the momentum changes, instead he was flying in all elbows and brute force.

The few good chances they had mostly involved countering with really at most two players and one ball in behind, there was very little in the way of good passing moves. The stat in the first half when the commentators were banging on about Dortmund being great, they'd had a couple of chances but had half the passes Bayern had and an awful pass completion rate of <60%.

Of all the chances, Bayerns misses were the better chances with Robben being a bit rubbish in the first half and messing up chances to get into the lead.

Decent performance overall, though Dante should have gone, they contained Dortmund all too easily across midfield and at the back and Dortmund were broken down by Bayern over and over, only for their own mistakes to spoil attacks or ruin chances.

decent game, but no overall quality from any particular player. In terms of players being sent off, I thought the elbow was, well there wasn't much bending his arm before or as he threw it, he really just had a huge bloke all over him and was throwing him off, his potential punch towards the defender was from the one replay, potentially much closer to a red card for me.

Also I'm not sure the Dortmund CB wasn't close to a red, while a very minor pull on Muller near the box, the bigger pull as the ball was put through did certainly slow Muller and he was through on goal... while such a girly pull back, it was very close to a red due to Muller being denied a goal scoring chance, Dante, no clue how he wasn't sent off, very poor decision.

So he's being retired by former Bayern players who run the club yet could end up winning the treble for them? That's ****** up tbh.

Yep have to agree its bizarre that he heard it from a journalist who told him Guardiola was on his way to Bayern next season from what i was hearing on sky sports. Dont think Bayern treated him very well as he seems to be a likeable guy albeit with the wild eyes lol. I like Jupp, seems to be another decent guy and was nice seeing him smile and get excited at winning the trophy.

People say Guardiola will have an easy job but he needs to replicate this :p

Hard to say, it will be a true test to see how Guardiola does at Bayern...at Barca he had Messi and the team was a bit younger than they are now. But i suppose with Gotze on his way and perhaps Lewandowski too, it wont be too hard for him to win a few titles...not sure about the CL.

While that may be true - with both players mentioned being sent off, only one goal would have been chalked off

I wouldn't have minded Bayern winning if it wasn't for their constant love of hitting the ground / rolling around and general exaggeration of which Ribery was by far the worst culprit (and he couldn't even take the "legal" challenges, even though he was more than happy to dish out plenty of illegal /unsportsman like stuff himself)

Dortmund didn't take their chances early on unfortunately.

Meh im no fan of Ribery myself, everytime i see him play he doesnt strike me as very good. Plus coupled with his antics ie falling to the ground anytime a slight touch is laid on him doesnt do him any favours.

Indeed if Dortmund had scored when they had their chances in the first half, i think Bayern would have found it tough coming back. Like i said i wanted to Dortmund to win but in the end Bayern were too strong and had that little bit of quality over Dortmund.

What made me laugh was Gotze in the stands watching the game, got pretty excited when Dortmund equalised. But suppose he doesnt care as he will be playing for Bayern next season and should get a CL medal sooner or later.

Dortmund on the other hand are going to lose a few of their good players ie Lewandowski i can see going soon, Reus is another that will probably be grabbed up along with Subotic and Hummels. They could very well become the next Arsenal in the German league, where they lose their best players to other teams.

Still my favourite german team now along with their awesome manager.
