It was a freak game really, Ramos causing chaos, Liverpool's best player being controversially injured, two massive goalkeeping errors and a wonder goal.

These are my afterthoughts on the match:

Liverpool didn't start with the high tempo pressing that put the games beyond City and Roma in earlier rounds, whether they were pacing themselves on the off chance of extra time or were just scared of being counter-attacked it seemed like they were playing within themselves.

Salah going off was massive, it looked like Ramos dragged him down and he had to fall awkwardly to potentionally stop the arm that was being held in some kind of arm lock from being broken.

Karius will never live that match down. Without his two massive errors you could say that Klopps tactics worked as Real didn't create much except when Liverpool were chasing.

It's twitter, what do you expect. I can't imagine how he's feeling right now - tonight's the sort of thing that can scar you for life but thankfully I'm sure 99% of supporters he actually interacts with in person will be far more supportive.

That said, he's simply not good enough and I hope we're ruthless enough to go out and sign a top class keeper this summer.
 
GK is the toughest position in a team and is pretty much a thankless role, so I feel sorry for Karius; all he's going to be remembered for the rest of his career is those two howlers. Tainted legacy and all that.

But still at this level it's unforgivable.
 
There's a GIF doing the rounds on Twitter of Ramos shoulder charging into Karius's head just before he fell apart, aside from Ramos being a massive dirty **** maybe they can claim minor concussion on Karius's part.

They did mention a challenge on Karius in commentary but the TV was to busy showing replays of something previous.
 
Just in from a BBQ and my god that was rough to watch. I thought Real did an okay job as a whole but nothing special (Bale's overhead being the exception of course). Mane was good up front but Firminio had a relatively quiet one and without Salah we lost impetus and chinks started to show. Modric played well throughout I thought, as did their goalie and defense as a whole...and of course Bale. Hell of a shame that it was decided by not one but two world class howlers in the end.

I mean people on here are saying things like Ronaldo didn't show up again. The only finals he didn't show up to he played in injured and still had an effect in. People in the UK were all "bale scored, what did Ronaldo do" a few years back and they are doing it again. Ronaldo dragged that team through to the final each time then he was either injured and played and scored or didn't score like tonight. Makes no difference that he was by far and away their most crucial player through the competition and he got injured scoring in el Classico.

Without him Real wouldn't have won the last 4 CLs, maybe none of them, certainly not all of them. He's also been by far and away the best player in the competition for years. Highest scorer, breaking records, highest assister afaik as well (I know he's assisted more than Messi which likely makes him highest assists of everyone but not sure).
 
Looks like VVD pushes him tbh

The Salah thing and everything else he has done is enough regardless, dude should get a lift with Marcus Alonso
