I was in Ukraine, perhaps a month ago. The police were mental - any sign of trouble and they were running in waving their truncheons about (that's not a euphemism).

They've got guns and dogs with them this time.

I don't want to be that guy buut football can't just be about thrills, excitement and darn good sport, it's also a celebration of humanity, our quest for improvement and fun and I think we owe it to ourselves to think, at this time, about others less fortunate than ourselves. At the very least, if you have no spare coin, spare a thought for those poor ***king saps in the USA who think the world series is good or meaningful sport.

Winner takes all in the Czech Rep. v Poland game tonight (or well, a draw will do for the former).
