UEFA Euro 2012 - Group B - ** spoilers ** (Denmark, Germany, Holland, Portugal)

Arsenal players in every match so far, nothing to write home about:

Szezesny - at fault for the goal, sent off
Arshavin - best of the lot - but he's out of contract this month!
Rosicky - largely anonymous
Bentner - atrocious, looked disinterested and gave away possession a lot
Van Persie - lacked a killer touch in front of goal, although looked useful in build up play
Podolski - generally poor

Bit like Drogba's in the UCL final eh sim ;)

Oh dont get him started lol.

About time Gomez did something useful...bit of a lucky deflection but it went in.

So Germany and Denmark top of the group...both games i found were a bit meh if anything...i was expecting the Germans to batter Portugal but didnt happen and Holland were played off the park by Denmark, which was a lolworthy defeat for them. Dutch have it all to do but both Germany and the Dutch need to pick up their games moreso the Dutch if they want to get through to the next round.

Hopefully the Spain and Italy match will have more goals and more entertainment than the 2 today.

As i said before the best game so far of the Euros has been the Russian Czech game surprisingly...wouldnt be surprised if the Russians get to the final, they seem to be a pretty decent outfit.

What do people think Holland's chances of qualification are now? They're the least favourites odd-wise.

Germany and Portugal both need to beat Denmark, whilst Holland need to beat Portugal with a higher GD than they beat Denmark, or beat them and draw with Germany. Possible!

If Denmark beat either Portugal or Germany then Holland need to win vs Germany too with a higher GD. That could even put Germany out of contention.

I was only listening on the radio, as I was driving home... but Bendtner got praise on there (admittedly for his work ethic/playing a ~team role~, because of the nature of the team's performance).

I get accused of randomly disliking players, there is never a time, ever that I don't mention someones performance based on one game and not reputation. The games RVP got two goals but looked turd otherwise I say, when he doesn't score but has an exceptional game, I say that.

Bendtner very rarely gave away the ball, he's talking out of his behind. Late in the game he ran down the wing, got the ball and put in probably the best cross of the game(make no mistake, thats because the crossing in the game was utterly abysmal and it was just a decent cross into an actually dangerous area :p ). He actually won very few headers, though to be fair both the dutch CB's are VERY good in the air and strong, and they didn't go with the long ball much at all and weren't too accurate so it rarely was easy for him. On the floor he passed well, he got the ball and pushed it out to the wing then he and several players would get in the box, in fact he did that exceptionally well, he set up most of their attacks that got in the box.

THe problem being, I don't think a single cross made it even close to Bendtner. He had a good game when he got the ball, but didn't get enough of the ball.

One of the commentators at one point had a huge go at Bendtner for not making a run into the box. One of his team mates had the ball on the wing, he DID run towards the box, he was covered by both CB's, he moved behind them then dropped off, he didn't run into an area no one had put in a good cross and the CB's were very good, he stood 5 yards outside the box, completely unmarked, begging for the ball and didn't get it. He did the right thing, got in bags of space and made himself available, he does that all game.

In one sense it would be good to see Germany go out quickly - they were not at their best by any means, but Portugal imo always play worse than they should .

Holland should have scored 3 or 4 and VP really should have got at least two after the brilliant season he just completed for his club. Sneijder was brillaint but really happy for Denmark.

I can see the Danish beating Portugal but it will be a very tight match, but Holland will need to very good at the back (as well as relying on RVP's scoring boots being back on song) to even get a point from the Germany game

The big question mark is whether Denmark can actually hold off Ronaldo and Nani especially, if they can I reckon they can qualify for the 1/4s

Holland got what they deserved for not starting Huntelaar.

Tell you what as well, Lawro had a ****ing cheek making a wisecrack about Podolski's heritage yesterday "on account of he's Polish?", considering the fact he qualified for Ireland under the same route (grandparent) - at least Podolski has lived in Germany since the age of 2.

Bendtner did look a bit static in attack in the first half and I think he did give the ball away cheaply a few times. Then again, a lot of the danes did. The danes seemed to gain a lot of confidence in the second half, kept possession much better and countered well.

Here's hoping they get a result against the portuguese. Would love to see Ronaldo in tears again.
