To lead by example terry has done it for chelsea for years effects the whole team what happens from the back, defenders and goalkeeper plays well everyone in front relaxes and plays better.
The best captains in the prem for the last few years have been Kompany and Terry and they are centre backs. Makes sense both chelsea and city play worse when they are not in the team.

Terry has done it irrespective of whether he was captain. Carra rarely captained Liverpool, and was always a leader. If a player is a leader he will lead regardless of an armband.

Not irrelevant in the least, as that is clearly why the ref did not give a penalty. I agree BTW. It is a stonewall pen.
