Not a great game but France did more than enough and put in a decent shift. Hungary might take a bit of a battering but I'd expect a similar performance against Portugal.

Germany vs Hungary could end up being a very interesting game for trying to reach the knockouts as one of the 3rd place teams.

Well it wasn't the dismal performance I was expecting after the last Germany match I watched, but disappointing to have made so little from so many chances and always galling to have scored the winner for the opposition.

France weren't the force I expected. Against a team that didn't score for them the lack of offside line discipline would be telling.

Only lost to an own goal, Germany did ok but poor up front & think they'll struggle to break down Hungary to claim 3rd place.

France didn't fire on all cylinders tonight, but its the first game and its the form going into the knockout stages that counts.

Still count them as my odds on favourite to win the Euros this year.

I’m enjoying how the commentators were laughing about Rudiger trying to take a bite out of Pogba but we’re appalled when Suarez bit someone. Massive double standards.

Tbf first time Suarez did it was reasonably low key and a lot of people laughed it off, 'haha thats weird, crazy guy'

Second time was after the largest viewership in football had seen him be a ***** on the pitch for a couple of years and been accused of racially abusing another player. Then there was a third :D (Also much higher profile player at the time of his, one of the best in the world + played for a larger club)
Its not that shocking reactions are different. I'm all for those bites rather than the horror tackles certain players get away with throughout their career, especially with the 'lol he just can't tackle' nonsense as a defence at times.

Was that on the TV? They were laughing on the radio for sure. "He's only had a little nibble" basically.

Yeah, it was on the BBC analysis. I don't know if it was on the half time stuff. I assume that twitter will be full of memes of Rudiger in a Hannibal Lecter mask instead of his batman one.

They were laughing in the studio on ITV. If he 'nibbled' him then Pogba clearly didn't feel it as he didn't react at all at the time. Just weird TBH.

Pavard says (according to what I've read) that he was "out of it" for 10-15 seconds after the knock he took in the second half... If that is the case, then why did the coaching staff let him continue? He should been off the pitch for further assessments..

Aren’t head injuries supposed to be independently assessed now? As in not by team doctors?

I saw that as well and said to my mate at the time that's concussion. You can see the way he hits the ground that he was concussed.
