I'm never in too much of a rush to draw comparisons of a group match where dropping points is an option with a knockout match where its make or break. I often find that the way a team performs once its the knockout games is different to when they were in the groups

All we can do is beat who is in front of us, those wins build momentum and confidence going forwards.
 
ooooh 3-3 and extra time. Well now I just need Pau Torres to score with Ferran Torres providing the assist, and Simon to save a penalty and my ff team will be salvaged a bit

Though of course the teams we will play in the knockouts have also beaten who is in front of them and built momentum and confidence to the same degree, so theres no advantage ultimately. Point is though, who we beat in the groups and who then they beat is as pointless an indicator in the end, as Burnley beating Liverpool and Man City and drawing the conclusion then that because Burnley beat them if Utd can beat Burnley then it means that they will beat Liverpool and Man City.
