UEFA Europa League Final Villarreal v Man Utd ** spoilers ** [Wednesday 26th May 2021]

A couple of decisions for Ole to make.
He'll play Lindelof but I think Tuanzebe is the better partner especially after today. Bailly has a madness in him - he's not an intelligent player.
The other decision is who plays left side. I reckon it will be Pogba but does that put Rashford or Greenwood on the bench?

This Villarreal team isn’t as good as the Sevilla one Emery won the EL with repeatedly, you should be fine as long as you don’t forget your shooting boots. Gift them a goal and they’re pretty organised and stubborn though.

Cannot see anything other than a comfortable Utd win, Villareal really aren't that good a team and Utd have beaten much better teams over the course of this season (but have also lost to worse teams as well I guess).

Thats the problem. We have no idea what United team is going to turn up and we are very influenced by our opposition. We don't tend to impose ourselves on the opponent, we try to adapt to them. Sometimes teams play into our hands and we smash a good team, other times they don't and we get made to look **** by the bottom team in the league.

Yeah but Ole's at the wheel, surely that's gotta count for something?

sorry but no way should Pogba be playing on the left in the final, apart from it absolutely ruining Rashford, Im not sure Pogba has been wonderful in that position (yes he had one or two good games followed by a couple of average ones). Also doesnt get the most out of Shaw's attacking duties either.

If PP is played in CM then fair enough, but would be concerned with him conceding a pen or just being run off (he has after all given away 4 of our last 6 pens)

I would also go with DH in net, even if he is lacking the experience of DDG.
definitely go with Tuanzebe without doubt, and even if he is fit Fred gives away too many daft free kicks around the box to be relied upon

Its just as likely Utd being 3-0 up at half time or 2 or 3 down, really depends on the team that show up on the night

Attack is best form of defence even if their striker, Gerard Moreno, looks a bit of a handful especially against a questionable defence

The team will be

DeGea
wan Bissaka
Lindelof
Tuanzebe
Shaw
Fred
McTominay
Pogba
Fernandes
Greenwood
Cavani.

I just can't see Ole diverging from what has been his "go to" line up in a match like this. He doesn't trust Pogba in Centre Midfield and with some cause. Fred and McSauce are reliable if uninspiring but the provide valuable energy and physical presence. If Ole is sensible he will bench Rashford. He's not been anywhere near as successful off the right side. Greenwood offer more threat on that side. Cavani has to start - he's our best striker. United have to win this match and I don't care how ugly it is.

Huge game.

A win would really put us on the right track. We're doing reasonably well in terms of the squad and team in general. I don't think Ole is a great manager by any means but bring in the right players and we might just be getting somewhere.

Losing isn't an option.

Fully expecting Utd to be gash for large periods of the first half, maybe go behind, thus getting my hopes of lols up, before they come back from behind with a penandes penalty and a deflected goal.
I think I’d shorten that to us just being gash. My expectations are very low.

I would love for us to just dominate a game for a change. It happens too rarely these days.

We will almost certainly get outplayed for large parts of the game but will probably win in spite of that because we have far better players than them on an individual level. Its OK though, you can't expect a well paid manager at one of the richest clubs in the world to have his team perform as a functional unit. Regardless of what happens tonight, Ole will be gone by the end of next season IMO. Even if we have a decent transfer window we are going to get found out when Liverpool, Chelsea ( maybe Tottenham and Arsenal) actually have average seasons rather than awful ones.

Anyway, I will enjoy being in a final regardless. Doesn't happen much these days!
