We got a £70k fine for invading the pitch at Sunderland, what went on at the Turkey game last night was far worse as far as I'm concerned, so a stiffer penalty must be applied. With a bit of luck our game in Istanbul could be played behind closed doors, it's not right for international players to suffer that sort of abuse. This is not a dig at all the Turks, but I for one think something should be done about the minority of 'fans' who so far have been getting away with much too much:(

The first European game I went to was in Vienna against Red Star, I remember the entire game was the worst racism I'd ever seen/heard, every time Impey and Akinbiyi touched the ball the stadium erupted in torrents of racism. They were chucking flares all over the place, threw some onto the pitch at Tim Flowers and threw fireworks into our supporters section. That was pretty sick, they got fined £20,000 iirc.

Dunno why I've gone off on one about that, just thought I'd share :)

About time.

Am I the only one disgusted by the fact that England get threatened with being kicked out of the European finals (if there's a repeat) for fans invading the pitch and a minority shouting abuse and throwing things at the opposition fans coaches, whilst consistently Turkish teams' fans have displayed levels of racism and occasional violence that appear far in excess of the levels of misbehaviour England gets punished for?

:(

Nope. I get accused of rascism when I point it out though.

Besides Turkey though, England are the European team that sticks out like a sore thumb for racism and football hooligans. During the 90's it was really bad, in this day and age you would have thought it would be much less so now sadly thats not the case, it would just be as bad unless the police and local authroities stepped in to try and sort it.

What they did to England was making an example so that others wouldn't do it, now they must surely do the same to Turkey. I still think Turkey are a much better football team than England though :D So their fans should have less reason to riot and cause trouble, am really looking forward to the game in Turkey it must surely decide the winners of the group, will definately be an interesting game of football

hehe would be funny though if both sets of fans got tore into each other and both teams were banned :D

How would that be funny?

And yeah, the fact that we (as England) beat Turkey means that they are a much better footballing side. I can see how you worked that out

During the 90's was nothing compared to the 80's, but it has been all but stamped out now. You still hear of trouble at Cardiff and Millwall but there's hardly any anywhere else any more.

exactly.

Whenever English fans do anything they are jumped on two feet first but nothing is done when other fans do it.

I am not condoning what the very very small minority of English fans do but the Italians, Turks etc are far worse overall than the English.

I hope that turkey and england have to play that game behind closed doors.

Be honest and i hope this doesnt offend u but do u want that to happen so they get punished or so it takes away home advantage from turkey thus helping england.

I dont know about what has happened in the past but i think turkey should be given a final warning just like england from what ive seen. The Macedonia player went to the corner, was showing off infront of the fans and pulled out a flag. The guy must have been crazy tbh, in their stadium u must be pretty dumb to do that!

Cardiff and Millwall are considered to be domestic football, which AFAIK does not get investigated by UEFA (otherwise Milan, Inter, PAO, Olympiakos, Barca, et al would all have been banned by now).

As for International Football, England does stick out a bit when it comes to crowd trouble, AFAIK it was English vs. Germans at Euro 2000 that caused the most trouble? Or was that France?

Mind you, I don't think England are the worst....I would say top 10, but not top 5 in terms of crowd trouble.

to be fsir there is probably 5% of me feeling like that, however the other 95% is really in the interest the safety of the English players. All we have to do is look at the comments made by players such as Emre after the Turkey game to see how this game is going to be a very dangerous one for the England players to play in.

people like gerrad and beckham didnt help themselves with their actions at the end of the match

the atmosphere is gonna be hostile, but the players are payed big money to be able to put up with these things.

But like u said i fear for their safety, the turkish FA are saying they are really gonna tighten up security, hopefully they will as will!

Why do you care for the safety of the English players when all you have done is **** them off in a previous thread? A good thing could come from it that being Sven gets linched by the Turks, would solve your problem then of having a poor manager.

I don't think it should be played behind closed doors, the Turks had to come to England and play and put up with the crowd so its only fair that the English do likewise, mabye a taste of their own medicine will sort them out, who knows?

you are boring the crap out of me.

I slagged there performances of in that game that does not mean I wish harm on them in anyway shape or form.

I dont wish any harm on Sven either, sure I dont want him to manage my national side anymore but quite frankly i find it insulting that you think I would want any human being to get linched by anyone regardless of whether they are national team manager or not.

Nope am advocating fair play and the Turks had to put up with the **** the English fans and Players gave them away from home so I feel its only fair the English put up with what the Turks have to dish out on the pitch.

Don't forget this is an automatic qualification for a major tournament we are talking about not a worthless friendly, every advantage counts.

And likewise your boring the **** out of me too, although am not as rude to point it out as you but since you mentioned it first I may as well return the compliment :D

so in truth you are actually advocating Football Hooliganism.

And in fairness the turkish players didnt have to put up with much at all they dished out as much as they recieved back from the english players. The hooliganism surrounded the fans after the match and really had nothing to do with the turkish players at all.

When the return leg is played there are no english fans so the turks are going to have a right go at the english players.

Was it emre who said to beckham afterwards in the papers something along the lines of

"dont come to turkey we will kill you"

hardly in the same league as anything the english players did to them.
