UEFA World Cup Qualifiers **spoilers** [11th - 16th November 2021]

A bit off topic but, anyone else think that FIFA need to think again about qualification. The amount of absolute mismatches seems to be increasing making for a lack of competitive matches and in England's case I don't think thats particularly helpful. Winning 10-0 makes a mockery of international football being the pinnacle of the game. Farcical really.

The under 21s would have won tonight comfortably nevermind the senior team

Not unexpected playing a back 6 at times.

Italy have done it to themselves, 2 missed pens (1 in each swiss game) and a draw against Bulgaria at home have cost them.

Looking at playoff permutations, Italy wont be seeded, might be a very difficult route to make it
 
Did you really post a video of Brazil v Germany at the World Cup to counter his argument that playing a team made up of teachers, window cleaners and fishermen losing every single game isn't a waste of time :D

I can't even see the video but when the number one football bore Micheal Owen calls the game pointless then well...

Absolute waste of time.
 
Just as a frame of reference, San Marino have about 33,000 people to choose from. And by choose from I mean people who are alive. The actual pool of men, 18-40 ish is probably 5,000 ish. The number of men that age who actually play football at any level is probably under 1,0000.

Not sure England would beat Italy just yet. Good thing, England would attack against Italy - which with their current style, creates spaces for strikers. NI didn't do this last night, they sat deep - leaving no space.

Not an excuse but they were without a number of first team players which didn't help. Italy also (currently - ignore the late sub) don't have a tall striker, this is why they have excelled at close touch football - so they had to work it short still. Even last night though, everything was perfect - I personally don't think England are at that level (yet).

Time will tell, lets see if Italy can get through the playoffs first, which I learnt last night they will be seeded for due to subtraction of points from bigger groups. Again, we wouldn't even be having this conversation if both (or even 1) penalties against Switzerland went in and the Bulgaria game at home wasn't a draw.
 
World Cup play-off draw's being made atm and Scotland and Wales have been drawn together in path A and Italy and Portugal in path C :eek:

Path A: Scotland/Ukraine v Wales/Austria
Path B: Russia/Poland v Sweden/Czech Republic
Path C: Italy/Macedonia v Portugal/Turkey
