UFC 100 **SPOILERS**

I can't wait for this. I've been watching back some of the older UFC's recently and it's got me chomping at the bit for this event. Both title fights I think will be fantastic. I agree with the majority here on Alves not having much chance unless he gets a one hit KO though.

You can vote on their website who you think will win.

As you can see if you go to the "How to watch tab" the UK is listed as "coming soon".

My picks:

Brock, GSP, Hendo (would wasnt bisping to win however), Fitch, Akiyama

Hey guys where the best place to watch UFC now?
Used to watch it on bravo couple of years ago but can't seem to spot it on the menu now

Here's my post from the other UFC thread...

Just dug up some info about UFC100 in the UK

It seems a fair few companies are trying to get the Live feed here in the UK, including Five, Virgin, Sky Sports, Bravo and ESPN - and a fall back would be a tape delayed feed by Bravo (ala what they used to do a year or two ago)... we supposedly will hear on Monday who has won the rights to the show.

FANS of mixed martial arts in the UK have been boosted by the news UFC 100 will definitely air live on July 11.

Speculation has mounted that the event would be screened on Bravo on tape delay following Setanta's collapse last week.

But we can reveal the main card from the Mandalay Bay spectacular will be broadcast in its entirety as it happens.

We understand Virgin 1 is favourite to screen the extravaganza — which looks set to be the biggest event in MMA history.

Speaking exclusively to SunSport, the UFC's UK president, Marshall Zelaznik said: "I'd like to guarantee our loyal British and Irish fans that UFC 100 will be LIVE on television over here.

"You won't have to wait to see the biggest event in UFC history. UFC 100 will be live in the UK."

The showpiece sees Brock Lesnar clash with Frank Mir in a heavyweight title unification bout in the main event.

Welterweight star Georges St Pierre also puts his title on the line against rising Brazilian star Thiago Alves, while Britain's biggest MMA fighter Michael Bisping pits his wits against legendary American middleweight Dan Henderson.

In a further boost, it is claimed SIX TV channels are battling it out for the rights to screen fight cards following Setanta's demise.

Zelaznik added: "We've got some very exciting options on the table and I expect to be able to make an annoucement by Monday."

ESPN are said to have lodged a huge bid to become the new home of the UFC in the UK and are the frontrunners to seal a long-term contract with the promotion — probably starting with UFC 101 in August.

But they face a challenge from Five, who are keen on bringing MMA to a mainstream audience.

Although Five cannot match ESPN's financial clout, the lure of terrestrial television may help swing them the deal in favour of their subscription-based rivals.

Sky Sports are also in the running, even though they lost out to Setanta two years ago.

Bravo are also interested in screening live fights, but Virgin 1 would seem a better fit if an agreement with ESPN or Five cannot be reached.

Insiders at Virgin 1 were reportedly amazed at the viewing figures season nine of The Ultimate Fighter produced considering the minimal advertising spend the show received.

Over 380,000 people watched the TUF 9 finale on the channel earlier this month and the UFC are said to be delighted with those figures.

About the reffing comments... They should replace Mezzegatti and bring "Big John McCarthy" back - that guy done a good job. Mr. Dean is a bit of a character though - I feel he's the most fair ref and I cant remember a bad judgement call.

I remember a fight (cant remember the details) where one guy's forearm snapped and Dean stopped the fight. The ringside commentators and even the guy who got the arm broke were all like "wtf just happened? premature stoppage or what?!". Then in the replay you clearly see the bone just *snap*... So Dean clearly has an eye for detail which is what makes him the ref he is.

Anyway, onto the main card... As said in the other topic, this is undoubtedly one of the best cards i've ever seen! Jon Jones is such a joy to watch and he always leave's you picking your jaw off the ground... not to mention his opponent almost literally picking his jaw up off the ground... his spinning fists and back-kicks are incredible!

Well it's difficult to bring McCarthy back since he has supposedly retired as a referee. Although I think he's done a bit of work for Afflication since "retiring".

He's opened his own MMA School as well now.

!

That was Frank Mir breaking Tim Sylvia's arm and I thought it was a premature stoppage at the time, until I saw the replay, great call by Herb there.

Can't wait for this event and I just hope it's free, but we'll have to wait until Monday.

Big John was in the cage for Strikeforce also. I think he'll continue to ref for a couple of years, not sure weather we will see him in the UFC again though as its up to the Athletic Comission as who is assigned for what events apprently.

Can't wait for UFC 100.

Lesnar / Alves / Bisping / Fitch / Aikiyama

Think it will be really close in the main and co main events, but i think Bisping will grind Hendo down with a great gameplan like he did with Leben.

Im fascinating by most people defaulting to picking GSP over Alves. Alves is a BIG BIG fighter; he made Matt Hughes look tiny and he eclipsed GSP. I think if Alves can get past the first round without getting taken down (which he has a damn good chance of doing) he can cause a Serra-like upset.

In the other fight my money is on Mir to make it 2-0 against Lesnar and reclaim what is rightfully his. He is simply too good at the moment; he made Minotauro look trigger-shy and the way Randy Couture showed Lesnar up until he clipped him opened up a few eyes.

Add: Also, Hendo vs Bisping is very simple - Hendo's takedown ability vs Bispings takedown defence. If Henderson can get him down its going to be a very rough night for Bis.

I can't see Mir beating Lesnar. Lesnar has learnt lessons from his submission the first time they fought, and I just can't see Mir catching him with another submission.

Its going to be an absolutely epic night though, I hope all the big fights live up to expectations!

I can see this being a very disappointing night.

A lot of the matches have a very high chance of turning into simple ground and pound, for the full length of the fight, without any other action.

For example I can see lesner just doing the same as he did against herring.

I can see gsp smothering Alves.

And I can see hendo and bisping going 1 of 2 ways, bisping jabbing hendo to a points decision. Or hendo smothering bisping for the length of the fight.

I do hope I'm wrong, as I would also like to see some of the under card fights.

Hughes eclipsed GSP:confused:, that was years ago, when Hughes was at the top of his game and GSP was brought in as a late replacement.

The two fights after that were easy wins for GSP, who is very strong at the weight and in the second fight, he threw Hughes about like a rag doll.

It wouldn't be a Serra like upset either, as quite a few "experts" think that Alves will win the fight.

im hoping that alves pulls out a win vs GSP. im not a big fan of GSP, i know he's won a lot but i dont like his style in the cage.

should be a reasonable event, not sure all of the fights are worthy of being on the centenial show?

I have to say that I think Mir looked pretty good against Minotauro but I don't think the result is in any way clear cut. Mir will have to be at the top of his game to beat Lesnar as there won't be any easy submissions this time.

I also agree that Randy showed up some chinks in Lesnar's armour but I worry because I think that Randy was taking a pasting from each of those elbows and punches that Lesnar put in as Randy closed the range. Even when he was leaning on Lesnar, Randy was taking some vicious elbows and punches. My point? I don't think there is anyone who hits as hard as Lesnar does and all he has to do is rock Mir once and take him down in his usual sprint-at-you way.

Physically, not technically eclipsed him. I'm trying to say that Alves is the bigger fighter.
I agree Mir has to be on the top of his game but i think he has the ability, plus i want to see him vs Carwin :D

I hate how everyone thinks Alves has a chance just because of his size, yeah he is a big WW and he has power and good stand up.

But GSP is a better wrestler has better BJJ and I would say better mix up of his striking. He has every tool he needs to beat alves, and I don't see Alves being able to stop the take down, maybe a few times. But GSP will wear him down.

Im knock saying Alves can't win, he clearly can the kid has some serious power and GSP hasn't got the greatest beard in MMA.

It could go either way, but on paper GSP should take this and I want him too he is awesome.
