UFC 112: Invincible

Leave the freak show fights to the Japanese.

Seriously Sonnen needs to get in with Silva, Maia is a Jiujitsu idol of mine and seeing him get humiliated like that was heart breaking. The Renzo fight was painful, but I think it was organised to draw in the Abu Dhabi elite given Renzo's relationship with the crown prince and other royalty. But Renzo literally slept walked through that fight.

maia did well to be fair ( not getting ktfo :)) , he showed a lot of heart and may not of won but he won the fans

also vitor wants silva

“Guys I am very sad that I was unable to not be fighting with Anderson. But Demian show a lots of respect and did good but now is my turn,” former light-heavyweight champion Belfort wrote. “Dana make this fight happen please... Lorenzo make this happen please, I want to fight Anderson.”

Shortly afterwards Belfort hit Twitter again to send another message to White, “Dana make this happen for me and all the fans.” Belfort also spoke to Tatame, the leading MMA magazine in his native Brazil, and sid he is looking at a return date somewhere “between August and October”.

Did you watch the 1st round?

Seconded. As said before, Hendo was his only real challenge. He beat Silva up in the first round for 5 minutes on the floor, i was gutted when he didnt re-sign as he was the only real challenge IMO.

Vitor would be a good sight, but i think GSP is the best bet of giving Silva a good whooping - the cut might sap him a bit, and i think GSP's game plans and his ground game are unbelievable.

Silva needs to stop being such a moron and just do what he does best - bang people out.

Did you watch the 1st round?

I've just watched the 1st round again(as well as the 2nd), as my memory was a little hazy, and Hendo didn't really have him in too much trouble, he was landing a few elbows and short hammer fists, but nothing worthy of stopping the fight. Took him til about 2:30 to actually start throwing too.

I admit, I didn't remember it like that, sorry my bad :D

Loved the Fedor gif :D

as most have said - embarrassing stuff from Silva - poor poor show all round and very disrespectful to all people concerned. Dana even left during the 4th round as he said he couldn't stand to watch it any longer and didn't even present the belt!

I was pretty annoyed at that show, i just hope next time i see silva on UFC he will have someone standing across from him who will kick the **** out of him, to be perfectly honest.

Munoz, Hats off to him, but jesus hes got some ground and pound!

Penn was disappointing :(

man why didnt silva just put him away.., not surprised the crowd were cheering Maia.

to begin with anderson was calling Maia on.. but by the 3rd anderson was definately RUNNING AWAY from Maia, maia was moving in but anderson was backing out equally fast...

was dissapointing.

I was a little concerned with the fatigue of Anderson, I think he over sold himself, maybe because of the heat I reckon in UAE, but a rematch sill suffice.

Silva is a talented fighter don't get me wrong but he is a counter striker and that's all well and good if someone is coming onto him but when people do not then he really needs to take the initiative if he really wants to be more well received. Such a style will always give you an advantage because at the end of the day for the sake of the fight and a point scoring system you have to move into their comfort zone eventually. Until Silva shows a bit more then I will never consider him to be a great fighter.

I personally would love to see him fight Shogun or even Fedor (and let's face it Fedor would not happen even though we can wish). All three probably walk around at roughly the same weight. Machida we know he would not fight which is a pity as his striking is also excellent. GSP although excellent as I feel would struggle size wise versus Silva and is not really finishing opponents at WW emphatically but I would not write GSP off either. Brock well for me too much of a weight disparity there, whilst to me it looks like Silva cuts quite a bit I don't think he cuts quite that much.

Anderson Silva has some fantastic skills but watching him clown around got too much in the second round and left a sour taste in my mouth. I can understand some clowning as it is the dominance of a top competitor overflowing into showmanship, but he went over the top.

You showboat a little to show you can, then you show why you can afford to showboat. If you don't follow it up then it's just arrogance.

In this specific case the first round didn't seem too outrageous. But he should have just pushed forward and tried to end it in the second round. If he wasn't capable of ending it then it's time to play it straight and show a little humility and respect.

What, thats crazy, id sooner pay to see Anderson Penn, the weight differance is pretty much the same

Anderson said after Irwin fight he walks around at 220. In comparison Fedor walks around and fights at 230. Shogun said he was 215-220 in an interview at Chutebox a while back. These are the competition Anderson should really be testing himself against.
