Hopeing belfort dose the job

Jones vs Bader is the one I'm really interested in. What a fight that has the possibility to be :o

Cant look past Anderson Silva for the title - I hope he can answer a few questions.

Most people seem to think Belfort then?

I can't remember seeing many of his fights and never really sure how Silva is doing to respond so no idea, either way im excited.

Isn't this still like 3 weeks away?

Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader
Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos

silva is probably the best middleweight ever, he can dodge punches like neo in the matrix, he can literally showboat and throw the most insane kicks or punches at the same time.

the only way i see him losing ever again is by submission and belfort isnt a ground specialist, he is a round 1 ko specialist and has never fought in the 4th or 5th rounds ever. therefore everything says silva will win, the only way to beat silva like i said would be to take him down and submit him. all it takes is 1 punch, but silva can avoid punches like no other thats why i think nobody can stand with him.

i see belfort gassing and silva slowly picking him apart, i dont know how some of you even think belfort has a chance, the chances of him landing a strike in the first round when silva is at his best would be like a 20 to 1 shot.

I thought Silva was taken right to the wire by Chael Sonnen back at 117. Wasn't it the one of the only times, after 4 rounds, that the champion retained his title despite being down on points on all the judges scorecards? He weathered it and pulled a triangle out of nowhere I suppose but the fight could have gone either way.

He hasn't fought anyone with the handspeed/KO power combo that Belfort has, it's by no means going to be an easy feat beating Silva on the feet but I believe he is capable of doing so. Also he has a BB in BJJ just like Silva has, neither of them are ground specialists but they are both more than capable on the ground.

But out of everyone he has fought, Belfort has the best chance of doing so.

If Belfort loses I firmly believe that it's going to take someone like Chael Sonnen but with more powerful GNP to defeat Silva, if Sonnen didn't hit like a 4 year old he would have taken Silva out in their fight.

anderson silva has like 3 different black belts and a belt in capoeira, he has only ever been beaten in mma by submissions or DQ. i doubt he would dq himself ever again so that only leaves submissions. plenty of stand up fighters have fought silva even forrest griffin who had a weight advantage, i just dont see silva losing standing up. and belfort isnt that good on the ground, bjj black belt or not.

the only way to beat silva is to take the fight to the ground like sonnen did, thats his weak spot. i dont belive a lot of the fighters out there are genuine bjj black belts, some of them are some aren't. if you look at some of the high level bjj guys, they would kill 99% of the UFC fighters on the ground.

theres guys out their that can do a flying triangle and a flying armbar out of nowhere. theres others who can manipulate you ten times out of ten into doing something which you think is the right thing to do as defense, in order for themselves to maneuver into a choke or submission. those guys are top level and bjj black belts.

I know about top level BJJ blackbelts and of course they are better on the ground than the UFC fighters, it is all they train if they weren't better then they should give up!

Are you seriously comparing Forests standup to Belforts?! Belfort has 13 KO's Griffin has.....3.

I know others have tried to stand with Silva and failed, but none of them have been as capable as Belfort in the standup realm, whether you like this or not it's true.

If you want to get technical about belts Belfort has a BB in BJJ from Carlson Gracie and also a BB in Judo. They are probably evenly matched on the ground, although I imagine Silva has a better guard due to his long body type. On a side note Silva hasn't competed in any professional grappling events, Blelfort has competed in ADCC a few times I believe.

Whatever happens it should be a really decent fight. I'm excited.

Agree with Dex about Vitors hands, but his technique sees him more often than not steaming in head first. If he can do what Shogun did to Machida and be *very* methodical and pick shots perfectly, he will have a better chance of success - but Silva defence and more to the point, head movement, faints and foot movement will be far too good for even the "getting back to how good he used to be" Phenom.

Still, going to be a great event.

He is training at xtreme Couture for this fight, I'm sure Randy is going to choose an excellent gameplan for him.

Maybe he will take a leaf out of Sonnens book and choose to GNP.

Now that would be surprising. That would be like Chris Leben pulling guard! (Heh, well not that far!). I suspect Vitor is going to fancy his chances of pushing Anderson against the fence, avoiding the thai clinch, and throwing some round house punches to the side of Silva head to knock him out. Frankly I think he has to go for it, as Silva is the perfect fighter for "Picking apart" opponents. I mean, he hardly hit Maia apparently yet look at his face.

Silva has a habit of feeling out opponents for a while before he attacks, perfect for Belfort who likes steaming in an getting a KO asap.

I can't wait for it.
